HA TINH Instead of widespread stocks, costly environmental treatment, inoculants…3-step shrimp farming technology has helped farmers increase yield and improve economic efficiency.

With the potential of a large sandy bottom strip, abundant brackish salt water surface, shrimp farming on sand and on tarpaulin ponds in Ha Tinh is identified as the main occupation. However, the increase in the model has also put pressure on the water environment, causing many shrimp farming areas in Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha, Loc Ha, Nghi Xuan…more failures than gains.

Faced with urgent environmental treatment needs and investment cost saving, 3-stage shrimp farming technology has been chosen by many aquaculture farms for application. Initially it was an attempt and now that many successful households have produced this technology, this technology has become an inevitable trend and must be used synchronously in all agricultural sectors.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ha’s family in Thach Ha Parish (Ha Tinh City) has a 1 ha earth pond lined with canvas. In early May 2022, he stocked 600,000 shrimp seeds, applied the 3-stage cyclic shrimp farming process, and applied microbiological technology. This is the first model in Ha Tinh city to adopt this agricultural technology.

During the rearing process, Mr. Ha received detailed guidance on the nurturing process and the application of modern and complete agriculture technology using organic products from the technical staff of the Center for Application of Science, Technology and Plant and Animal Welfare in Ha Tinh City.

According to Mr. Ha, shrimp raised with probiotics are both eco-friendly and absorb nutrients thoroughly, which increases their resistance. After more than 75 days, the shrimp weight reached 50-60 shrimp/kg, the yield reached more than 8.5 tons/ha; Earnings are more than 1 billion dong/crop, minus expenses, his family “pocketed” over 500 million dong.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Trong, team leader of THT and Mr., also applies this advanced farming technology after founding Gon River Aquaculture (THT) Cooperation Group (Nam Phuc Thang Municipality, Cam Xuyen District) in mid-2021, and 3 other members invest in Excavation of 1 settling tank, 1 rearing tank and 4 rearing tanks lined with HDPE tarpaulin. Simultaneously build a system of ponds to store and treat water and waste. The water source for shrimp farming is pumped from the outside to be disinfected and thoroughly removed before sowing.

“Vannamei shrimp are very delicate, so applying the 3-step breeding process will help shrimp achieve a survival rate of around 80%, while conventional farming only achieves an average of 65%. In particular, farmers can grow mats for 2-3 crops per year, so the economic efficiency is 40-50% higher than conventional farming,” said Mr. Trong.

According to Mr. Trong, the outstanding advantage of the 3-step intensive shrimp farming process is to ensure product safety and food hygiene by not using antibiotics and chemicals. safe and stable farming environment; Control and treat diseases entirely with microorganisms and biological products; Reduce risk, increase shrimp productivity and quality.

It is known that THT Gon River Aquaculture has harvested 2 batches of shrimp from the end of 2021 to now and exported nearly 50 tons to the market. With a stable sales price of 150,000-155,000 VND/kg, THT earned more than 7 billion VND after deducting interest expenses of nearly 1 billion VND.

At the forefront of the high-tech shrimp farming movement, it is impossible not to mention Xuan Thanh Aquaculture Cooperative (Nghi Xuan District). This is a unit that has spent more than a decade ‘life and death’ with Vannamei shrimp.

Previously, the cooperative had 33 ponds, all 33 ponds were stocked, raised outdoors, the water source was taken directly from the sea, treated through a few settling tanks, resulting in many diseases, shrimp often got water shock after a fight. more failed than successful farming.

After applying 3-step farming technology, each cooperative stocks only 5 ponds with mats, saving the cost of electricity, microbial products, food 2 microbial products for pond bottom treatment and water treatment.

“Before, during or after each harvest, we clean the pond and water environment with probiotics. Especially during farming, one needs to “hit” (with a water treatment product) every day to stabilize the environment and water source,” said Ho Quang Dung, director of the cooperative.

In 2022, Xuan Thanh Aquaculture Cooperative has successfully grown 2 crops. On average, each win is more than VND 1.5 billion. Currently the unit is cleaning ponds and lakes in preparation for the new harvest.

In recent years, Ha Tinh’s shrimp farmers have been focusing on the transition to intensive farming with high technology, aiming for the province’s intensive farming area to reach more than 1,000 hectares by 2025.

In particular, intensive farming and high-tech farming on earth ponds in the intertidal zone has now been implemented by more than 70 organizations and individuals. The average yield is 4-5 tons/ha, the profit is over 200 million VND/ha. A typical example of an efficient farm with a yield of 8-10 tons/ha/crop is: Xuan Quy Cooperative, Ho Do Township (Ha Tinh City); Mr. Nhan, Mr. An, Thach Chau Township (Loc Ha District); Mr. Bo, Thach Trung Township (Ha Tinh City); Mr. Liem, City of Thach Ha…

For Sandland, the province has nearly 100 organizations and individuals who farm shrimp with a productivity of 6-8 tons/ha and a profit of more than 300 million VND/ha. Typically, Xuan Thanh Cooperative (Nghi Xuan District) has a yield of 20-25 tons/ha/crop; Grobest Company (Ky Anh Town) has a yield of 10-15 tons/ha/crop (farming in closed houses reaches 40-45 tons/ha/crop)…
