“In previous years, the price of sweet potatoes was around VND 7,000-8,000/kg. As official export information is available, traders are now buying VND 12,000 per kilogram of sweet potatoes. If this price is maintained until the end of the harvest, potato growers can grow potatoes, Lang brings a big profit,” said Mr. Hung happily.

Similarly, Mr. Hoang Van Quang’s family (resident in Village 3, Ea Rbin Township, Lak District) owns more than 3 hectares of land for the cultivation of sweet potatoes, which will be assessed and assigned a cultivation area code in the coming days. When the government announced the creation of a cooperative group to link and collate planting primaries, popular support was strong. Because when sweet potatoes are officially exported, the price will be raised, people don’t have to worry about the devaluation season.

Improve quality to serve the whole country

Huong Cao Nguyen Import-Export Trading Joint Stock Company is currently linking and creating 12 sweet potato planting primaries for more than 1,000 hectares by farmers, cooperative groups and cooperatives in Ea Kar, Krong Ana, Cu M’gar, Lak and Districts Oh hello.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, deputy general manager of Huong Cao Nguyen Company, the business is expected to further expand to neighboring places like Gia Lai and Dak Nong in the near future. Regarding the packaging line, the company also invested in a pre-processing and packaging line with a capacity of 150 tons/day and created jobs for 100 employees.

When linking farmers to companies, Huong Cao Nguyen Company assists sweet potato growers in creating and setting up growing area codes. Technical support for farmers to grow according to VietGAP standards. Businesses also contract to sell finished products to households.

“The growing area number is a mandatory requirement for export traceability and brings stable production for sweet potatoes and a value of over 1 hectare. The company profile has currently been completed and submitted to the competent authority. rights and is awaiting approval and issuance of codes to export the first goods to China,” informed Mr. Tung.

And Mr. Nguyen Hoang Vy, Van Hoa Investment and Development Company Limited, said when there was an announcement from China for official sweet potato export, the company worked with people to develop a growing area code for more than 130 hectares in Vietnam Dak Lak Province.

“The company prepared a dossier and sent it to the authorities to organize the assessment and issue the growing area code. In terms of packaging equipment, the company imports modern production lines to pre-process and pack products according to the standards of the importing country. At present, the company has completed the procedures and only needs to be evaluated by the Chinese side to export,” said Mr. Vy.

Mr. Le Van Thanh, head of the Subdivision of Cultivation and Crop Protection of Dak Lak Province, said the area of ​​local sweet potatoes is relatively large at 7,000 to 10,000 hectares per year. Therefore, Dak Lak identified the sweet potato as one of the main crops due to its relatively large area.

After the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announced that yams will be officially exported to the Chinese market, the sub-department mobilized people to set up cooperatives and cooperative groups in production to create a large raw material area used for coding suitable is .

“At present, the sub-department has completed the application and has proposed issuing a planting area code for 500 ha for inspection in the near future. As for the packing plant, there are currently two local companies, Van Hoa Investment and Development Company Limited and Huong Cao Nguyen Export Joint Stock Company, which have completed the preparation of the documents. At present, the preparatory work has been completed and is just waiting for the Chinese customs to evaluate and issue the code,” Thanh said.

According to Mr. Thanh, the winter-spring harvest in Dak Lak is about 2,500 ha of sweet potatoes. Therefore, the municipality also prepares a dossier for more than 1,000 ha to send to the competent authorities for inspection and evaluation in the next stages.

“To get a crop priority, farmers, businesses and government agencies will join forces to best manage pests and diseases, food hygiene and safety. Improving the quality serves not only the export service but also the domestic market,” said Mr. Le Van Thanh, head of the Sub-department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Dak Lak Province.
