In the days leading up to Tet, we visited Mr. Trieu Van Doan’s family in Lung Vang Village (Kun Minh Municipality). His family has been making vermicelli for more than 20 years and typically only produces about 5 quintals of vermicelli per week. , sells 2 to 3 quintals every day.

Mr. Doan said that besides retail, many merchants come near Tet to buy 5 to 7 quintals at a time, so the family has to produce continuously to supply enough. Although the sale of vermicelli is cheap, the selling price is only VND 60,000/kg and does not increase compared to weekdays.

Visit Tai Hoan Cooperative, one of the first units to export vermicelli to Europe, the working atmosphere is bustling and bustling. Although the cooperative was newly established more than 3 years ago, the cooperative’s vermicelli is already well-known in the market, near Tet, the unit exports tons of products every day.

“In celebration of the Lunar New Year, we need to hire more seasonal workers and work overtime to fill all the orders. Our vermicelli products, which were previously only sold in the province, are now available in large supermarkets in many provinces and cities,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan, director of Tai Hoan Cooperative.

Although it is a mountainous municipality with a sparse population, Kunming has 7 farms so far, including 4 cooperatives (cooperatives), 3 private farms and 40 professional households producing vermicelli.
