According to the National Load Dispatch Center, the highest electricity consumption capacity of the entire national grid during the Lunar New Year holiday averages only about 24,300 MW per day at about 440.6 million kWh/day.

Statistics show that electricity consumption across the country fell by 30.3% during the lunar new year of 2023 compared to the week before Tet. At the same time, the average daily power consumption during Lunar New Year 2023 is also 9.2% lower than during the same period of Tiger New Year 2022.

As previously forecast, national electricity demand has decreased significantly during the Lunar New Year compared to weekdays. According to the latest statistics, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the national power consumption capacity has dropped to about 15,500MW at noon, during the off-peak night it is only about 13,600MW, which is about 60% of the normal day.

Meanwhile, the total installed capacity of renewable energy sources nationwide is around 21,000 MW (of which almost 16,200 MW solar power and almost 4,000 MW wind power), which is 27% of the total installed capacity of the entire energy system 77,800 MW.

Thus, in terms of renewable energy sources alone, the installed capacity is much higher than the electricity consumption capacity of the entire system during the Tet off-peak periods. Due to the low power consumption during the Tet holiday, many types of power sources need to be drained according to the load demand to ensure the safe operation of the national power system.

Due to the proactive and timely dissemination of information and alerts on safety and security issues in power system operations before and during the Tet holiday, and thanks to the active coordination of power operating units and the grid, the National Load Dispatch Center said that in the last days of the Lunar New Year In 2023, the investors of power generation sources (including rooftop solar power) basically did the right thing by following the disposition orders, thereby helping to ensure the safe operation of the national power system without causing incidents and affecting the power supply.

Thanks to the active and proactive preparation of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and its member units for the detailed plan to ensure safe and stable power supply, the organization of enhanced emergency measures ready as a result of the Lunar New Year holiday 2023, power plants and the entire transmission and distribution network mechanically operated, with energy and means, equipment and supplies for incident handling and fire prevention and suppression Safe and stable version.

Due to the low-load characteristics during the Tet holiday, the voltage of the regional power systems and the 500 kV system has increased, so the National Load Dispatch Center and Regional Load Dispatch Centers to ensure the disconnection of some high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage lines out of service that the voltage of the entire system is within the permissible limits and meets the requirements for safe operation.

There have been some incidents in the power distribution grid because people violated the grid security corridor (such as flying kites, shooting balloons, shooting tinsel, etc.) Restore power as soon as possible.

During the last Tet holiday it was also recorded that there were no electrical accidents, no electrical explosions. In addition, units throughout EVN have seriously implemented disease prevention and control measures in accordance with the instructions from the authorities.

During the 2023 Lunar New Year holiday from January 20, 2023 to the end of January 26, 2023 (i.e. from December 29 in the Year of the Tiger to the 5th day of the Lunar New Year), Vietnam Electricity (EVN) EVN) has a safe and stable Power supply secured to serve the people of the country to welcome the lunar new year 2023.
