Therefore, the minister called on Dak Lak Province to set up a durian industry association to develop an export strategy with a long-term vision not only for the Chinese market but also for many other markets.

Mr. Vu Duc Con, deputy director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak Province, said Vietnamese durian fruit has been officially exported to the large and important market of China.

According to Mr. Con, in Dak Lak in particular and in Vietnam in general, there are many varieties of durian with great yield and economic value, but previously they were only exported on quotas, resulting in a loss of revenue from the state budget due to no taxes being collected became. Companies have little experience with official export and strict phytosanitary requirements from China. Therefore, the formation of an association for the durian industry under the drastic leadership of Minister Le Minh Hoan is inevitable.

“Three months after the Minister’s proposal, the Provincial People’s Committee allowed the establishment of the Dak Lak Durian Association. This is a non-profit professional association; to organize and operate in accordance with the charter approved by the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and to comply with the provisions of the law. The association operates within the province; under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Lak Province and related departments, agencies and sectors associated with the area of ​​unification,” said Mr. Con.

Mr. Con added that the Dak Lak Durian Association was established for the purpose of gathering and uniting members, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members, and assisting each other, effectively in the field of nurturing, nurturing, production , Conservation and preparation to work processing, processing and consumption, development of durian industry. Thereby it will contribute to the socio-economic development of Dak Lak in particular and the country in general. Dak Lak aims to be the country’s durian capital and the powerhouse of the local agricultural economy.

“The development of the Dak Lak Durian Association will be a prerequisite for the establishment of the Vietnam Durian Association in general to uphold the interests of all durian farmers across the country. to gradually bring durian to the number one position in agricultural export products,” said Mr. Con.

Raising the bar for Vietnamese durian

Immediately after its establishment, the Dak Lak Durian Association set many goals to strengthen the association and support the development of Dak Lak and Vietnam durian products.

In particular, the Dak Lak Durian Association will participate in conferences and seminars on agriculture organized by communities and companies to improve experience and operational capacity.

Organize and invite partners to implement technical measures to help members master production principles and create a large number of products with unified design and quality. From there, the product creates a competitive advantage and is sold at a higher price than the market. Through technical dissemination actions, it will help improve the knowledge of farmers and members while enhancing the working capacity of the association.

The association will provide agricultural technical advice to both members and farmers across the Central Highlands region, creating uniformity in design and product quality to enhance competitive advantage. In agreement with the association, members and companies take care of the cultivation according to standard methods for a uniform agricultural production. The association of agricultural experts will enter into consultancy contracts in order to bring the greatest possible practical benefit to the community.

In particular, this organization will build standard plantations according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP and organic models; Creating, managing and supervising the cultivation code, the packaging line code… The process of building models requires the support and investment of the province of Dak Lak to confirm the quality and seriousness of the association with its partners with real efficiency . .

Since then, opportunities for business cooperation and consumption of durian become easier, created a consumer market with stable prices for farmers and members, gradually developed raw material areas that meet high standards to increase production and increase the competitive position of Dak Lak durian other regions of the country and the world, aiming to become the agricultural economic capital in the region.

The association will contribute to building the Dak Lak Durian brand in particular and the country in general to reach the region and the world. Specifically, this organization will help build brands and geographical indications for durian fruit.

In addition, conferences, seminars and trade promotion are organized, product consumption linked, cooperated with media agencies and professional departments to inform, disseminate and guide activities, production and consumption of durian, especially timely transmission of information on sensitive periods of harvest such as natural disasters and record pests for farmers and members to minimize damage.
