On the morning of February 13, 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City. Dong Ha, Quang Tri Province, Quang Tri Organic Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company (QT Organic) held a ceremony to export the first batch of organic rice to the European market.
At the ceremony, Ms. Pham Thi Diem Le, director of QT Organic Company, said that in 2017, QT Organic selected a number of sites in Gio Linh, Vinh Linh, Hai Lang, Trieu Phong districts… for the investigation and monitoring Conditions and start building a model for safe rice production according to the linked chain.
After the rice land meets the standards, the company continues to work with farmers to aim to produce organic rice for export to enhance the value of farm products. QT Organic Company’s cultivation and cultivation model fully uses Japan’s leading organic technology and yields 5.5 – 6 tons of rice/ha.
All the production is bought from the QT Organic Company with fresh rice at the foot of the field at a price higher than the market price. Up to now, the area of organic rice produced by QT Organic Company has reached 35 ha, with a production of 200 tons/year.
In order to bring the first batch of organic rice to the European market, QT Organic Company previously consulted and worked with many large customers in Europe and the United States. After agreeing on prices and inspection criteria, NHP Provide Company, sro (Czech Republic) and QT Organic Company completed procedures to export 15 tons of Quang Tri organic rice to European market, Europe at 1.8 thousand USD/ton.

It is known that this first batch of organic rice will be transported to Da Nang Port and then exported to Europe in mid-February 2023. After market acceptance, QT Organic is expected to export 30-50 tons of organic rice to Europe every month. In order to secure orders for partners, QT Organic Company will continue to increase the area associated with farmers and improve product quality in the coming period.
Not only the QT Organic Company, but also a number of companies in Quang Tri have now entered the field of organic rice production. According to a survey of companies in the region, while the rice acreage in Quang Tri is not large compared to many provinces across the country, it has great potential for organic rice production.
The analysis results show that out of over 20,000 hectares of rice production in Quang Tri province, about 5,000 hectares are eligible for safe VietGap rice production, of which 3,000 hectares are eligible for organic rice production, concentrating on some districts such as Trieu Phong, Hai Lang, Gio Linh…
The fact that QT Organic Company is exporting organic rice to the European market opens up great opportunities for farmers and companies in Quang Tri Province to enhance the value of agricultural products, especially organic rice.
