According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, human deaths due to A/H5N1 avian influenza virus have recently been recorded in Cambodia.
In order to prevent the risk of human and poultry disease infection caused by the transportation, trade and consumption of poultry and poultry products smuggled into Vietnam from abroad, seriously affecting livestock development, food safety and community health, On February 26, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued the Official Message No. 1030/CD-BNN-TY to the provinces and cities directly subordinate to the central government.
In view of this situation, on February 27, Vietnam Poultry Breeding Association (VIPA) sent a written request to companies, units and individual members of the association to strictly follow the instructions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Message No. 1030/CD-BNN- TY dated February 26, 2023 and Local Authorities Documents on Prevention of Disease in Humans, Livestock and Poultry.
However, do not transport, trade or consume poultry and poultry products smuggled into Vietnam from abroad. Do not eat poultry, poultry products of unknown origin, including poultry eggs, are often sold on the streets by vendors under the name “rescue”.
Proactively implement good disease prevention measures, including improving sanitation and disinfection in and around the facility, transportation to and from the facility, particularly in areas where there is a risk of infection.
Strict application of other biosecurity measures. Closely monitor vehicles and visitors entering and exiting the warehouse, perform quarantine and labor protection before entering and exiting the warehouse. Complete and prompt vaccination against avian influenza and other vaccines to prevent disease in livestock.
If there is an unusual phenomenon of sick and dead poultry at the breeding facility or company’s operation, timely inform the relevant authorities and take measures in accordance with the provisions of the Water Resources Act.
