In order to realize the potential and promote the export of these products, it is necessary to strengthen export promotion while complying with the strict and strict regulations of the import market.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s agricultural and processed foods are now available in more than 180 countries and territories. Many industries in this field have contributed more than USD 1 billion in annual export sales.

The fishing industry in particular has contributed more than USD 10 billion to Vietnam’s total export turnover. In view of the wealth of raw materials, Vietnam’s food industry is given a lot of space and development potential.

The Prime Minister issued Resolution No. 493/QD-TTg approving the Import-Export Strategy of Commodities to 2030, which establishes export orientations for agricultural, forestry and fishery products and increases the proportion of products with high economic ability, regulations and meet quality standards.

Besides, there are also opinions that many of Vietnam’s exported agricultural, forestry and fisheries products are still raw products, which are mainly exported through unofficial channels and face stiff competition from other countries in the ASEAN region, Asia or the main buyer of Vietnamese companies is China.

The world’s leading import and consumption markets such as USA, EU, China … are increasingly demanding sustainability for products, including social, environmental and economic aspects around the world.

Changes in consumer behavior are also having a negative impact on Vietnamese exporters, in particular the global trend currently favoring vegetable protein sources as an alternative to animal protein sources, leading to increased demand for organic products.

“This is clearly a challenge, but it should also be seen as an opportunity for Vietnam’s processed food exporters to seize and develop,” said Mr. Vu Ba Phu, director of the trade promotion department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, commented on Thuong.

To this end, Mr. Phu suggested that the system of Vietnamese overseas trade agencies should better promote their working role in assisting places, associations, industries and enterprises in the development of production, branding, diversification of markets, supply chains and export items.

At the same time, ministries of industry and trade, industry associations and import-export companies must use briefings as a channel for quick exchanges, especially to support the import and export promotion of potential raw materials, skills and strengths in the world market.

Mr. Phu also suggested that the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and particularly Vietnam’s overseas trade offices, strengthen support for local businesses, help the industry do good market work, and carry out effective import and export to become the increasingly strong to contribute to the development of Vietnam.
