Nature is great for everyone, no matter what age. Children in particular will benefit from spending time in nature as it is always a learning experience. But let’s face it – it’s not that easy to go camping with young people, especially when they start to get bored or moody.

As parents, our job is to protect and entertain them throughout the journey. To make it easier for you, bring these 4 things for a smooth and stress-free camping trip with kids:

A trash can with children’s essentials

If you’re a parent, you know that packing for kids is hard work because there’s just so much to bring. Aside from their clothes, you have to think about snacks, toys, entertainment, etc. To make it easier to find your belongings at the campsite, put all your essentials in a separate container.

Inside the bin, further organize essentials into smaller bins to keep things accessible. A container should contain first aid items such as bug spray, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, band-aids, etc. Another might contain entertainment items like some coloring books and small toys. The key is to keep everything organized so you don’t waste time searching through crates for something.

Your own water bottles

When you are outdoors, it is easy to lose track of your children’s water intake. They would probably spend busy days exploring, swimming, hiking or running around and it is very important that they stay hydrated throughout the day.

Fill up their water bottles every morning and if they’re not empty by a certain time of the day, make sure they’re resting and hydrating.

your favorite snacks

Admit it – most kids are picky eaters. While most kids would enjoy a campfire s’more, kids tend to stick with what’s familiar. Avoid tantrums by bringing their favorite snacks and drinks from home. But make sure you let them taste food cooked over a campfire too!

Important things to do at bedtime

As previously mentioned, children tend to cling to the familiar. To make them feel more comfortable sleeping in a tent, make sure you pack their favorite pillow, blanket, or bedtime toy. It’s important that they feel snug and comfortable in their sleeping bags, so tuck them in or read them a bedtime story to help them fall asleep faster, just like at home.

If you’re camping with kids, bring these essentials for a smooth and stress-free trip!
