According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tanh Linh (Binh Thuan) district, heavy rains have been falling in the district in recent days. Due to continued heavy rains, water rushed in from upstream and caused widespread flooding.
Many areas of summer-autumn rice just sown for 3-5 days in the area of both Duc Thuan and Dong Kho communes (Tanh Linh district) were flooded covering an area of 131 ha, with an estimated loss of more than 70% of the variety, the value of 800 million dong.
To minimize the damage caused by heavy rain, the Tanh Linh District People’s Committee has ordered communities to conduct urgent inspections and coordinate with irrigation management units and farmers to drain and clean the river. Prolonged floods are not allowed. At the same time, municipalities promptly update weather forecast information and notify communities and farmers so they can respond proactively.
Now that the rainy season has started, the Tanh Linh District People’s Committee is urging communities to urgently review and install warning signs to inform people in places at high risk of flooding and landslides when heavy rains hit, killing lives and affect property.
