As the country’s fastest growing pig herd with a total herd of 1.7 million animals, biosecurity is the “key” to Binh Phuoc’s sustainable growth.

Strict quarantine process

“While the selling price is low, the production cost is high, the epidemic could not be controlled, after trying various forms of family economic development many times, the effect was not as expected,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan in Tan Hiep Township, Hon Quan District (Binh Phuoc) has decided to shake hands with companies to adopt a closed-loop, bio-secure, processed pig farming model.

The initial success of this breeding model opened up new and promising avenues for him and local ranchers.

After staff from Binh Phuoc Provincial Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Department visited Mr. Tuan’s farm of 1,400 commercial pigs, we felt lost in the “matrix” of fly-proof nets with a tight monitoring and disinfection system.

To enter the pigsty, we had to correctly follow four procedures: from bathing to disinfecting people and work equipment, going through the infrared system and walking through a corridor of more than 100 meters flooded with clear lime water.

It’s a bit difficult, but given that farmers have a high awareness of disease prevention in their animals, we feel quite comfortable.

Inside the farm there is a closed cold barn system divided into three areas: food processing area, pig breeding area and biogas cellar complex for manure and wastewater treatment.

This is a modern farm with complete equipment such as water cooling system, exhaust fan, automatic feeder and drinker, automatic temperature adjustment system inside…

The model of a closed cold pen, the temperature is always stable, the pigs are less tired from the influence of the hot sun, which helps the pigs exercise well, eat healthily and grow stably, with little maintenance and clean pigs. Sold at a higher price than the market.

Mr. Tuan, who had just commissioned the refrigeration system for pigs, said developing sustainable livestock farming requires farmers not only to invest in farms toward refrigeration and industrial operations, but also to cooperate with companies. Since the family with CJ Vina Agri Co.,Ltd. connected, production is guaranteed, the disease is controlled and there is no risk to livestock.

“Compared to the current trend, I should work with companies because people have science and technology, share knowledge for me, and protect my inputs and outputs.” When we do small-scale farming, we depend on the market, but the market is now precarious, prone to price pressures and many other problems,” said Mr. Tuan.

In order to ensure disease safety, according to Mr. Tuan, in addition to the company’s support, Mr. Tuan has also actively developed disease prevention measures and applied technical advances in production, such as an infrared ray system. Feed radiation, heating system, automatic feeding system, etc., reducing production costs and increasing profits.

“In addition to the company’s requirements and regulations such as: disinfection house, washroom, disinfection toilet, I also need to actively make a fly net, spray disinfectant daily, spray with lime water. In, sprinkle with the drug.” The company provides 2 times a day. Compared to the income of a farmer who, like me, has a profit of 500-700 million a year, that’s also a great achievement,” Mr. Tuan said enthusiastically.

Mr. Ho Quang Thanh – Deputy Manager of Binh Phuoc Animal Husbandry Operations Department – Veterinary Sub-department said that in reality many farm owners and small and spontaneous pig breeding households are facing capital difficulties and lack of knowledge. Livestock production and bear farming are very numerous risks from market prices, weather, especially epidemics, when associated with livestock farms according to advanced techniques, farmers still remain “steadfast”.

“This camp used to be an open camp, then it was expanded into a closed camp and improved, the cold camp had better care conditions, this camp also met the disease prevention regulations very well. .

“In the region, as a result of monitoring and evaluation, the farm has no diseases and very high productivity. This facility has also passed the conditions for issuing a certificate of veterinary hygiene and food safety suitability,” said Mr. Ho Quang Thanh.

Green, sustainable growth

According to the Binh Phuoc Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the situation of livestock and poultry farming in the province has developed rapidly in recent years. The total number of pigs is about 1.7 million head, mainly concentrated breeding with 390 farms, 256 of which are closed cold farms.

The province has 123 disease-free classical cholera pig farms and 77 disease-free African cholera farms.

In order for the livestock industry to grow green and sustainable, the Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee has just released a plan to implement the province’s livestock development strategy in 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045.

According to the plan, the total pig population in Binh Phuoc province is expected to reach 2.7 million head by 2025.

As for the construction of disease-free animal production areas, there will be at least 7 county-level regions by 2025, and at least 10 county-level regions by 2030. Completion of at least two factories for slaughtering and processing beef and poultry meat and exporting processed products to the world market.

With a vision to 2045, the level and productive capacity of the province’s animal husbandry belongs to the advanced group of the southern provinces and the whole country.

Master and control dangerous infectious diseases and diseases that infect humans. Most of the major animal products, including meat and eggs, are produced on biologically safe and environmentally friendly livestock farms.

100% of the livestock and poultry meat products are supplied from concentrated and industrial slaughterhouses and over 70% of the volume of the main animal products are pre-processed and industrially processed, of which about 30% are deep-processed.

Binh Phuoc becomes the center of advanced and modern livestock production and export of the whole country and Southeast Asia.

Nguyen Thuy Luan, director of the Binh Phuoc Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said this plan aims to promote the potential and advantages of the place to promote comprehensive, effective and sustainable livestock production coupled with the development of value chains develop.

Increasing value creation, ensuring biosecurity, disease, environmental and food safety, meeting domestic and export market demand, creating jobs and increasing people’s income.

“Binh Phuoc aims to develop livestock farming toward industrialization and modernization, while promoting organic and traditional animal husbandry toward producing high-quality goods that are safe from diseases and protect the environment. Environmental protection.” Promote the socialization of animal production activities, develop animal production in line with the market economy and international integration, and create an equal business environment for all sectors of the economy to participate in development investment. Mr. Nguyen Thuy Luan, Director of Binh Phuoc Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development stressed.
