On July 19, the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee sent a document to relevant authorities in support of durian production and consumption in Da Huoai District.
Accordingly, the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee instructed the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong Province to organize support for Da Huoai County and townships to promote the consumption of durian and durian products in the domestic and export markets and avoid over-reliance on one market.

At the same time, the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee assigned the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to take primary responsibility and coordinate with the Market Management Department to manage and inspect institutions and enterprises that buy and trade durian in the region in accordance with the regulations strengthen and protect the “Da Huoai Durian” brand.
The provincial people’s committee commissioned the Da Huoai District People’s Committee to promote the development of the value chain of durian production, processing and consumption in the region, thereby ensuring sustainability. In addition, the development of high-quality durian seedlings is supported.
Earlier, on July 17, the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong Province had information to reflect on and make recommendations to the people of Lam Dong Province People’s Committee on sustainable durian production. In the 2023 durian season, the durian growers in Da Huoai District are happy with the good harvest and good price. However, in order for the production and consumption of durian to be sustainable, people have asked the government for attention and support.

In particular, people want the government to focus on building the chain of connections. In particular, it aims to expand the domestic market for durian consumption in Da Huoai to avoid risks when the export market encounters difficulties. At the same time, people want the authorities in Da Huoai District to organize research, protect genetic resources, and develop high-quality varieties of durian.
According to the Da Huoai District Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the durian cultivation area in the whole district is currently nearly 6,000 hectares, of which the durian commercial area is over 3.5 thousand hectares, the production is estimated at 40,000 tons. This local durian is in harvest time. The local price of Ri6 durian is from 45,000 to 52,000 VND/kg, Dona durian is from 60,000 to 70,000 VND/kg.
