The Ministry of E-Commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Commerce) informed that following the Prime Minister’s Decision 645/QD-TTg of May 15, 2020 approving the National Master Plan for E-commerce development for 2021-2025 has been commissioned to implement the “Project to build a unified e-commerce platform in 63 provinces and cities”.

At present, the situation of online trade promotion activities on local e-commerce platforms is still limited and inefficient. Therefore, the question arises as to how local exchanges can thrive while ensuring regional specificity and taking advantage of e-commerce platforms that account for a large market share.

The project “Building a unified e-commerce platform in 63 provinces and cities” will link and connect local e-commerce platforms with each other and with popular e-commerce platforms, creating an effective multi-dimensional trade connection environment.

In this regard, according to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the construction of a unified e-commerce platform in 63 provinces and cities (Phase I) meets the practical needs of enterprises engaged in manufacturing and business across the country, and is in line with the goal of helping enterprises apply e-commerce in accordance with National Decision No. TTg of 05/15/2020, to meet people’s needs for promoting transactions and purchasing goods through e-commerce channels.

Accordingly, the e-commerce layer brings together 63 provinces and cities with the aim of pursuing four main goals.

one is Reducing the gap between cities and towns in terms of e-commerce development.

two is Connecting local e-commerce platforms across the country with one address.

three is Support to promote the widespread application of e-commerce in companies and communities through the selection of products with a local focus according to the criteria of typical rural industrial products, OCOP… to provide the event. Communication, advertising to promote online transactions, increase sales.

A representative of the Center for E-Commerce Development (the unit in charge of implementing the program by the Ministry of E-Commerce and Digital Economy) said that the unified e-commerce layer is a model of a product supply chain. In addition, the unified e-commerce platform also provides online marketing and promotion tools that allow businesses to access only one domain name address to perform almost all operations on the same platform.

This will help businesses and individuals to develop e-commerce while creating a concentration and attracting a large number of product suppliers and customers.

In order for the organization and implementation of the project to be linked in sync with local strategies and plans for digital economy development and digital transformation, the Ministry of E-Commerce and Digital Economy recently issued an official letter requesting the Ministries of Industry and Commerce Mailed 63 provinces and cities have come together to connect local e-commerce to the Unified Exchange while designating a focal point to coordinate implementation.

In the coming period, the e-commerce development center will continue to contact and connect the consolidation layer with store exchanges to complete the system, create an effective multi-way trading environment, thus contributing to the expansion of the consumption market of Vietnamese goods at home and abroad through e-commerce applications.
