“I go to the market early in the morning to prepare vegetarian options. Vegetable prices are cheaper than during Tet. Such as beans, bitter melon, cucumber from 20,000-30,000 VND/kg, cauliflower, broccoli 30,000-35,000 VND/kg. The goods are sold out, they can be bought for free, they are not in short supply,” said Ms. Phan Thi Huong, who lives in Tam Phu District, Thu Duc City.

Ba Chieu market is always a busy area with people buying and selling from very early on. Ms. Ha, a small-time florist, said that she went early to pick flowers to prepare goods for January’s full moon day. “The price of chrysanthemums is now only between 15,000-25,000 VND/bunch depending on the variety, some varieties are still 15,000 VND/2 bunch; Gladioli 40,000 VND/bunch, cheap 50,000 VND/bunch, lily flower 120,000 VND/bunch. The flowers are more beautiful and lush this year than every year,” said Ms. Ha.

According to Ms. Ha, today’s purchasing power has increased by about 20% compared to normal days.
