MANY IMPORTANT HIGHLIGHTS

In particular, the export turnover of the entire agriculture, forestry and fisheries industry achieved impressive results, exceeding US$53.22 billion, up 9.3% compared to 2021. The industry’s trade surplus is estimated at US$8.5 billion estimated, an increase of 30% compared to 2021.

The total agriculture, forestry and fishing industry has 11 product groups with an export turnover of over USD 1 billion. Of these, there are 8 products/product groups with sales exceeding USD 2 billion (coffee, rubber, rice, vegetables, cashew, shrimp, pangasius, wood products); 7 items with sales exceeding US$3 billion (Timber and wood products reached US$10.92 billion; Shrimp US$4.33 billion; Coffee US$3.94 billion; Rice US$3.49 billion; Rubber US$3.31 billion; Vegetables and fruits US$3.34 billion; cashews US$3.07 billion).

Looking back to 2022, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien said that the agricultural sector has not only achieved impressive results in the field of export, but also made many achievements in policy development to expand the development space for rural, Forestry and agriculture to expand fisheries.

In particular, the Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Strategy for 2021-2030 with a Vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister and issued on January 28, 2022, has laid a foundation for the accelerated development of the industry. In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development completed 4 national sectoral master plans in 2022, including: forestry planning; planning of the system of fishing ports and shelters for fishing vessels; planning for the protection and use of aquatic resources; Planning for civil protection and irrigation.

2022 is also the first year that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has organized a law enforcement inspection on how to deal with administrative violations and has achieved first positive results. At the same time, he actively participated in the elaboration of the revised land law project, proposing to change and supplement many contents of the land law in order to align them with a number of specialized laws in the field of agriculture.

The draft land law (amended) included and supplemented regulations on agricultural land groups and institutions in the law on the concentration and accumulation of agricultural land for large-scale production, the expansion of the target audience, the transfer of agricultural land use rights, the allocation of agricultural quotas; agricultural land users are allowed to change the structure of crops, livestock and a number of regulations on forest land.

BUILDING AREA FOR FISHING INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT

According to Vice Minister Phung Duc Tien, one of the highlights of the agricultural sector in 2022 is that with the foundation of Vietnam’s Fisheries Development Strategy by 2030, the fisheries sector has created a development space with a vision by 2045.

As a result, seafood export sales have skyrocketed from $8.9 billion in 2021 to $11 billion in 2022. and replicated many good models in many provinces and cities.

As another highlight, it is noted that the export value has reached nearly USD 11 billion, a record level in history. To be more precise, Mr. Tien said Vietnamese seafood will boost exports from early 2022 due to inflation, cost pressures and energy crises in many countries. Therefore, despite the number of orders The second half of the year was volatile, but the seafood industry still achieved impressive growth.

However, the fisheries sector has not yet achieved the goal of abolishing the IUU yellow card. In 2023, the fishing industry will further increase its information and communication work to the fishing community, businesses and related stakeholders to update the situation fully, accurately and in a timely manner.
