November 2022 holds many memorable events for the export of agricultural, forestry and fisheries products. Specifically, on November 9, 2022, the Embassy of Vietnam in China sent an official telegram No. TCOCD1904 to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, announcing that the General Administration of Customs of China had signed the Protocol on the Export of Potato Nest (Salangan nest ) from Vietnam to China. Thus, yams and bird’s nest will be the 12th and 13th agricultural products officially exported to the Chinese market.

At the conference on the implementation of the protocol on quarantine, inspection and veterinary hygiene requirements for bird nest products exported from Vietnam to China recently organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms. Tran Thi Thu Phuong, deputy head of the Department of International Cooperation and Communication (Department of animal health), said that the bird’s nest allowed for export is a purified product (fine bird’s nest). For raw bird’s nest, the negotiation process continues, and the Chinese side will allocate quotas for the amount that can be imported from other countries and distribute to importers every year.
MARKET OPENING MARKET SIGN
Usually, companies need to declare the swift houses that supply raw materials, the swift houses must have an identification number, have an epidemic surveillance program, and carry out export registration to China according to the regulations. Companies wishing to export bird nests to China need to create a list of swiftlet houses in the chain to carry out disease surveillance, keep livestock and harvest diaries, etc. in order to be able to provide data to the Chinese side.
Another memorable event in November 2022 was that fresh pomelos were allowed to be imported into the US market; This is the result of many years of negotiation efforts by the specialized agencies between both sides and the persistent support of the Vietnamese pomelo producers and exporters.
This makes pomelo the seventh fruit in Vietnam to be exported to the US market, after mango, longan, lychee, dragon fruit, rambutan and breast milk. On November 28, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with Ben Tre Province to hold a ceremony to announce the export of Vietnam’s first batch of pomelos to the United States.
