Six people were prosecuted and arrested, including: Do Trong Nghia, born in 1980 in District 15, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City; Dong Ngo Minh Hieu, born in 1987 in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Province; Nguyen Van Dong, born 1982; Nguyen Van Thong, born in 1981 in Giong Trom District, Ben Tre Province; Duong Van Thao, born in 1991 in Hung Yen City, Hung Yen Province, and Dang Quoc Toan, born in 1978 in Phu Son District, Thanh Hoa City.
Previously, the No. 10 Police and Market Management Team of Thanh Hoa City of Thanh Hoa Market Management Department checked the compliance with the law in the production and business of goods and services for furniture trading establishments. Manufactured by Dang Quoc Toan, in Phu Son District, Thanh Hoa City.
The inspection process revealed that this business household deals in some types of milk tea ingredients, namely Loc Phat Black Tea and Loc Phat Jasmine Green Tea. All of these materials show traces of counterfeit labels and packaging from Loc Phat Tea Co., Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City. The value of the infringing goods is about VND 10 million.
According to authorities’ inspection results, all packs of black tea and jasmine green tea confiscated by police from Dang Quoc Toan’s store are not from Loc Phat Tea Co., Ltd. export.
To widen the investigation, police in Thanh Hoa city have conducted checks in many northern and southern provinces. A line was discovered that specializes in the manufacture, sale and purchase of counterfeit milk teas branded by Loc Phat and Phuc Long Tea Company.
According to the investigation, subjects Do Trong Nghia, Nguyen Van Thong and Dong Ngo Minh Hieu conspired to make and sell fake milk tea. After making fake tea, the above people offered to sell it to Duong Van Thao in Hung Yen Province. After buying all the fake tea, Thao sold it in the market and posted it on his personal Facebook page. Since ham is cheap, Dang Quoc Toan in Thanh Hoa town agreed and bought some of Thao’s tea.
So far, the Thanh Hoa City Police Investigation Department has seized 15,000 pieces of counterfeit tea packaging and 2.7 tons of all kinds of counterfeit tea products as part of the investigation and verification process.
From mid-2022 to now, the subjects have produced and sold a large amount of fake tea. The case will continue to be investigated, resolved and handled in strict accordance with the law.
Thanh Hoa Provincial Police advises consumers to choose reputable entities when using products to avoid buying cheap goods found on the market.
