In 2023, Bac Giang’s lychee season ended successfully despite many difficulties. Although this year’s lychee harvest was not the highest in production, the overall sales figure was the highest ever.

According to statistics, the total lychee consumption of Bac Giang Province is estimated to be over 201,600 tons, an increase of over 21,600 tons from the plan. Lychee and ancillary services revenue is estimated at over VND6,876 billion, of which Lychee revenue is estimated at over VND4,658 billion, an increase of more than VND247 billion compared to 2022; Revenue from ancillary services is estimated at VND 2,218 billion.

The province’s lychee production is positively consumed in both domestic and export markets, with the province’s export lychee production estimated at nearly 111,200 tons, accounting for over 55.1% of the total consumption. Domestic consumption is estimated at nearly 90,500 tons, accounting for nearly 44.9%.

The export volume mainly goes to the Chinese market, with the export market structure accounting for over 98% of the total export volume; The rest is exported to other markets such as the United States, Japan, Korea, Australia, the EU, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and some countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

In order to increase the value of lychee and ease the pressure to consume it during the peak harvest season, many localities and cooperatives are promoting not only the sale of fresh lychee but also the processing of lychee. In addition to popular products such as dried lychee, juice, lychee vinegar or lychee honey … numerous cooperatives in the Luc Ngan district have processed many products this year.

For example, the An Phu Trade and Tourism Cooperative in Tan Son Township launched two products including lychee-flavored bread and cake for the first time this year. Accordingly, lychee bread is made from wheat flour mixed with lychee juice, lychee and fresh copra are processed inside the cake. The sponge cake also goes through the process of fermenting the batter and mixing it with lychee juice.

Similarly, the Dong Dao Tourism Cooperative of Quy Son Township introduced “Le Chi” branded lychee wine for the first time this year. In addition, the cooperative also cooperated with a company in Hai Phong to successfully process lychee scented candles (wax form) with characteristic aroma and culture.

And in the Tru Huu Trade and Tourism Cooperative, the Tru Huu (Luc Ngan) commune has processed lychee tea. In the coming period, this cooperative will produce many lychee-based products such as lychee yogurt, lotus seed lychee tea and lychee cake to supply its customers.
