At the press conference on the August socio-economic situation and the September solution tasks of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on the afternoon of August 30, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen responded to the question of oil supply in Ho Chi Minh City Phuong, deputy Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City said the ministry had a plan to inspect and control business and oil trade activities since the beginning of the year. Currently, the departmental inspector continues to implement the plan, focusing on focal points and distribution units. The retail inspection work in particular focuses on regularly expanding the teams responsible for the area and delegating responsibility.

There are currently 550 gasoline and oil retail stores in Ho Chi Minh City, housing 15 major import-export companies, 60 distributors, one general agent and 28 retail agents.
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City is the seat of many major petroleum companies such as Petrolimex, Saigon Petro, PV Oil… Especially with more than 100 retail points of Region II of Petrolimex, not to mention hundreds of retail points of many other Saigon focus and distributors Petro, PV Oil, Comeco… these entities all ensure the delivery and distribution of goods to consumers.
Through the verification, only 2 shops of Tan Hoang Petroleum Company Limited (Binh Tan, District 7) have registered with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to cease business (from August 24 to September 14) to repair pump poles.
“There are only 2 gas stations in the area that have stopped selling so it won’t affect the petroleum business. Along with the administration of the Government, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to Ensure Adequate Supply of Petroleum, there is no shortage of petroleum products in the Ho Chi Minh City area. Mr Phuong said. .
Phuong also said the department will continue to coordinate with the city’s market management department, the Thu Duc City People’s Committee and the district to check compliance in the petroleum business.
Reinforce the supervision and record the operation of gas stations in the area. If you see signs of violation, go out of business without reason, stockpile goods or sell drips, promptly investigate and deal with them in accordance with regulations.
In recent days, many provinces and cities saw a few gas stations that were sold out and went on sale early.
Earlier, on the morning of August 30, Minister of Industry and Commerce Nguyen Hong Dien had a meeting with units of the ministry to monitor petroleum business activities during the September 2 National Day holiday.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade set up 3 working groups, each delegation led by a Deputy Minister and representatives from 4 units of the General Department of Market Management, the Department of Domestic Market, the Department of Inspectorate and the Department of Legal Affairs.
The mission will focus on directing the inspection of compliance with the Petroleum Transactions Act by petroleum and petroleum business entities, including petroleum and petroleum dealers, agents, petroleum retailers, etc.
Focusing on the inspection and surveillance of locations where goods have been reported as out of stock showing signs of “stolen goods”, non-compliance with the obligations and regulations of Government Decree No. 95 and Decree No. 83 on the petrol and oil trading. .
The three missions will conduct the inspection during the September 2 National Day holiday, but will operate continuously until the end of 2022 and until the situation of gasoline supply and distribution in the market has stabilized. .
