Binh Phuoc has implemented numerous mechanisms and guidelines to support farmers, cooperatives and companies in implementing digital transformation in agricultural production.

Digitization of planting area management

To carry out the task of digital transformation in agriculture, Binh Phuoc Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with municipalities to support organizations and individuals in building databases and registering growing area codes. This helps to closely link production to markets and consumers.

Mr. Tran Van Phuong, deputy director of the Binh Phuoc Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that Binh Phuoc is an agricultural province with a large area of agricultural land, mainly for growing long-term industrial crops such as rubber and cashew. In recent years, the restructuring of local flora and fauna has changed dramatically, from plants with low economic efficiency to trees with high economic efficiency, especially fruit trees. Areas specialized in the cultivation of green-skinned grapefruit, durian…

In the past 10 years, fruit trees have been considered a significant source of income for farmers in Binh Phuoc. Binh Phuoc’s fruit tree area is currently over 13,000 hectares, with a yield of nearly 64,000 tons/year, mainly durian, pomelos, jackfruit… However, Binh Phuoc’s fruit has not yet achieved any commercial value. Big brand. Encouraging organizations and individuals to register for primary planting is essential to locating the value of Binh Phuoc fruit trees on the map of Vietnamese agricultural products, which is also a “passport ticket” for export. Export agricultural products to the international market.

“In agricultural production, the cultivation area code means the identification number for a cultivation area to monitor and control the production situation, control harmful organisms, trace the origin of agricultural products, etc. Accordingly, Binh Phuoc has set the digital transformation in the field of crop production has two main tasks: building a database of the crop production industry and creating and managing growing area codes. At present, the whole province has issued 19 codes for the export of cultivation areas covering more than 1,997 hectares and producing about 223,500 tons/year,” said Mr. Tran Van Phuong.

In order to continue issuing and managing acreage codes, the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc Province has just issued a message delegating the task of issuing and managing acreage codes. Accordingly, the Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee requested the provincial Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to take primary responsibility for issuing and managing growing area codes according to the regulations and coordinating them with relevant units.

The provincial people’s committee also called on the provincial, city and township people’s committees to designate the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development/Economic Department as the central authority to take primary responsibility for the preparation of the application for the planting area regulation and its implementation, management and use of local planting area codes to ensure compliance. Organize training, conduct guidance to raise awareness of growing area codes among organizations and individuals, and regularly review and monitor the use of assigned growing area codes for local organizations and individuals. Ensure traceability requirements where necessary. Annually develop plans, estimate and allocate funds according to community plant area code construction and management regulations.

Helping farmers immerse themselves in the “digital flow”.

In parallel with building a database of growing area codes, the agricultural sector in Binh Phuoc encourages and supports farmers to apply digital transformation and integrate new technological agricultural models into production practices to improve the quality of their crops. Income.

With a cultivation area of around 800 hectares of red flesh jackfruit and golden breast milk, Phuoc Thien Trading – Service Cooperative (Bu Dop, Binh Phuoc) is one of the first cooperatives in the province to adopt high technology in planting and product processing, towards a closed process chain from cultivation through harvest to post-harvest processing. This is also one of two cooperatives to benefit from Binh Phuoc Province’s digital transformation program in 2023-2025.

Accordingly, Phuoc Thien Cooperative will be assisted in installing WiFi, an automatic irrigation system using IoT technology, and a surveillance camera to collect data for care and traceability. At the same time, the Phuoc Thien Cooperative is also supported with software in the management and operation of production and business activities. From here, the co-op is actively seeking markets through e-commerce channels.

“Thanks to the policy of digital transformation in agriculture, the cooperative works more efficiently. The motto of Phuoc Thien Cooperative is to combine the production of clean products with a clear traceability, thus helping to improve the value and competitiveness of the products…

Therefore, the cultivation process always complies with VietGAP standards and is organic, which promotes the health of consumers and producers. “The implementation of digital transformation not only improves production efficiency and income, but also gradually changes awareness and improves the level of farmers,” said Mr. Nguyen Viet Vi, director of Phuoc Thien Cooperative.

Recognizing the trend of digital transformation, Binh Phuoc Agricultural Service Center has actively implemented programs and projects, training and education, transferred scientific and technical advances, and contributed to the change in agricultural practices of farmers in the province in the past period. Encourage and support farmers to apply digital transformation and integrate new technological agricultural models into production practice.

Although the implementation of digital transformation and application of technology in agriculture is at an early stage, important results have been achieved by transforming the small and inefficient production model into a new one step by step. value chain linkage.

Some typical digital conversion application models such as: Pepper linkage model according to RA (Rainforest Alliance) standards, Hydroponic reflux vegetable cultivation model, Steam technology processing cashew nut model, Red flesh jackfruit cultivation model, Red flesh jackfruit cultivation model Ma Duong avocado varieties, the growing green-skinned pomelo model and the models provided with traceability such as pepper, cashew, melon, honey, bird’s nest…

The implementation models of digital transformation not only improve production efficiency and people’s income, but also gradually change the perception and raise the level of farmers in the production organization.

In addition to the results achieved, the use of technology and digital transformation in agricultural production in Binh Phuoc is still fresh and new. In fact, traditional production methods, mainly based on labour, are still popular in the field of cultivation. New technology application models and digital transformation are still rare, most of them are only applied at certain stages. Since most farmers’ technology application level is low, not to mention the limited investment resources.

Binh Phuoc currently has 226 operational cooperatives, including 196 agricultural cooperatives. At present, there are about 28 cooperatives in the province, which use digital transformation applications in production and business activities, but not extensively, but mainly use QR codes for product traceability.

Based on the concretization of the National Program for Digital Transformation by 2025 with a focus on 2030, Binh Phuoc has issued specific guidelines to encourage enterprises to invest in agriculture and rural areas in the period 2020-2025, with targets and tasks for development High-tech farming towards a focus on modern and smart farming.

“Besides clear guidelines, Binh Phuoc agricultural sector will coordinate with departments, agencies and municipalities to promote propaganda to make farmers clearly understand that in the period of renewal and integration, as a 4.0-age farmer, they must have the courage to think, dare to do, dare, invest to apply scientific and technical advances, change production methods, access the market to optimize production processes, improve the quality and value of agricultural products,” said Binh Phuoc Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Deputy Director Mr. Tran Van Phuong.
