With financial support from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Quang Tri Province, Quang Tri Agricultural Extension Center has implemented a pilot production project and built a model of intensive cultivation of yellowfin pompano towards VietGAP in conjunction with product consumption.

The deployment model aims to diversify the issues of brackish and saltwater management in coastal areas to ensure sustainability and high profitability. The model will be implemented in Thuan Dau Village, Hai An Township, Hai Lang (Quang Tri) District. The scope of the test production project is 4,000 m². Through implementation of the model, Quang Tri Agricultural Extension Center has assisted farmers in releasing 12,000 juvenile fish weighing approximately 3 g/fish (300 fish/kg).. SAfter 20 days of rearing, the fish weight reached about 10 g/fish (100 fish/kg).

The model of applying the farming process to VietGAP helps farmers change their mindset about sustainable aquaculture and see the practical benefits, namely reducing feed, chemical and labor costs; Reduce diseases and limit environmental pollution, increase the survival rate of fish; shorter cultivation time and higher product quality, easier consumption…
