A collective mark is a common mark of the collective, all members of the collective can use and promote their products. The collective can be a cooperative, a cottage garden association, a cooperative group, a company, a trade association, etc. In addition to the right to use the collective mark for their products, members must have an obligation. Compliance with regulations on the use of collective marks.

Collective marks are often associated with place names to identify products originating in the place and area bearing that place name. Vietnam has long been an agricultural country, each region has its own characteristics in terms of natural conditions (climate, soil), therefore agricultural products have specific characteristics of each region that cannot be obtained from other regions or are of inferior quality.

The selection and protection of collective marks related to place names will bring many benefits to the collective and its members. The reputation and quality of the products from the region that bears the place name are sure to be quickly embraced by consumers far and wide.

The affixing of a collective mark with a place name to a product is also seen by consumers as a sign of quality assurance, as the product’s reputation from that geographical area has been confirmed over time.
