Before 2018, Mr. Luong Van Ha had never farmed shrimp. But after approaching and learning the three-stage CPF-Combine shrimp farming model, Mr. Ha and his brothers and relatives set up a company to breed Vannamei shrimp using this model.
Together they contributed VND 13 billion to invest in the construction of an 8-hectare shrimp farm in An Ngai Township, Long Dien District, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province. Only 1.3 ha will be used to build shrimp ponds, most of the remaining area will be used to build a system of settling tanks, filtration etc. The farm is regularly monitored and guided by CP Vietnam engineers.
Mr. Ha said the water treatment system plays a very important role in the CPF Combine model that the facility is implementing. With this system, the water source when put into the pond is clean water, without harmful bacteria, toxic substances… thus helping the shrimp have a safe environment for favorable development.
In particular, this system is able to perform rapid water treatment (input of water treatment, output directly into the pond) and continuous rotation 24/24 hours. As a result, the system not only always supplies enough water for the pond, but also ensures that the water is always safe for the shrimp because when the chlorine (used to kill bacteria in the water treatment) has run out the water will be depleted it is fed to the pond immediately, algae and bacteria do not have time to appear and multiply and multiply again due to the cultivation.
Thanks to clean water, CP Vietnam disease-free shrimp seed and high-quality feed, white leg shrimp bred at Mr. Ha’s Farm grow very well and achieve an average yield of 60-70 tons/ha. Thanks to this, after just two harvests, Mr. Ha and his brothers have recovered all the capital they spent on investing in the farm, namely VND 13 billion.
Up to now, after more than 4 years with 15 crops, Mr. Ha’s farm has successfully cultivated 14 crops. There was only 1 error caused by human negligence, not the farming process. Therefore, Mr. Ha will continue to invest to expand shrimp farming using the 3-stage CPF Combine method.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Thuan, representative of CP Vietnam, with increasing disease risks faced by shrimp farmers, CP Vietnam has researched and developed a CPF combine process to improve production efficiency for shrimp farmers.
Accordingly, CPF-Combine is a combination of many important solutions such as biosecurity (use of probiotics to prevent intermediate hosts, use of microorganisms to fight diseases), clean agricultural environment (first water source, etc. and cleaning of the pond bottom). , use disease-free seeds and high-quality forage.
In particular, 100% of the shrimp harvested by the CPF Combine model can be processed for export due to their good quality, since there are no antibiotic residues, as this process has helped farmers to reduce the risk of shrimp disease outbreaks already at the stage of water treatment, seed and strict control during rearing.
Therefore, shrimp bred according to this model often have a good selling price, which helps farmers achieve high profits. Mr Ha said the average selling price of shrimp this year is about VND160,000/kg, while the price is about VND90,000-100,000.
Not only that, CPF-Combine also helps farmers to grow Vannamei shrimp to a large size (can reach 15 shrimp/kg) for higher selling price and better profit. Because faced with competitive pressure from cheap and small Vannamei from India and Ecuador, Vietnamese shrimp companies tend to buy large shrimp for processing and export.
