On February 7, 2023, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) informed about the situation of the electricity supply in the first 2 months of 2023.
In particular, in February 2023, EVN ensured a secure and continuous power supply, conducive to socio-economic development and meeting people’s daily needs, with the power generation for the whole system reaching 20.22 billion kWh, an increase of 9.4% in the same period corresponds to the year 2022.
However, cumulatively in the first two months of 2023, the power generation of the whole system reached 38.61 billion kWh, down 2.2% from the same period. Hydropower reached 10.57 billion kWh, which corresponds to a share of 27.4%; Coal thermal output reached 16.47 billion kWh, accounting for 42.7%; Gas turbines reached 4.32 billion kWh, accounting for 11.2%; Renewable energy reached 6.45 billion kWh, accounting for 16.7% (of which solar energy 3.87 billion kWh, wind power 2.4 billion kWh); The imported electricity reached 735 million kWh, accounting for 1.9%.
The power transmission capacity reached 16.1 billion kWh in February 2023. Cumulative in 2 months of 2023, the transmission power reached 30.53 billion kWh, an increase of 0.2% compared to the same period last year.
Due to the sudden increase in the price of the fuel used for power generation from the beginning of 2022, while the retail price of electricity has remained unchanged since 2019 until now, EVN’s financial situation faced many difficulties that did not ensure financial balance.
With regard to construction investments, EVN continued to focus on the construction of the hydroelectric power plant projects Hoa Binh, Expanded Ialy, Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant in the first two months of the year.
In particular, the Tri An Expanded Hydropower Project is currently awaiting the approval of the project investment policy by the relevant state administrative departments and the People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province. The Bac Ai pumped storage hydroelectric power station continues to complete the technical design phase 2.
As for the power grid, in the first 2 months of 2023, EVN and its entities started 07 projects and completed the power supply and commissioning of 11 power grid projects from 110kV to 500kV.
As expected, in March 2022, the average daily power consumption of the entire system will be 743.5 million kWh/day.
The aim of grid operation is to continue to ensure the production and supply of electricity for production and business activities as well as people’s daily lives. Thoroughly economize multi-purpose hydroelectric power, exploit remaining hydroelectric power plants towards optimal regulation in operation plan, meet power grid/system requirements and downstream water supply requirements.
For coal power plants, gas turbines, high mobilization of coal power plants, gas turbines to keep water in hydroelectric power reservoirs; Mobilization according to the needs of the system of imported coal-fired power plants, ensuring the restrictions against network congestion and voltage quality.
In order to reduce difficulties in operating the power grid in the dry months of 2023, EVN continues to advise people, offices and production facilities to use electricity safely and sparingly.…
With regard to the investment in March 2023, EVN and its units focused on reviewing the implementation plan of important network projects; urgently complete the power supply works of the Bo Y shutdown station and connect and expand the 220 kV Phuoc Thai substation and the connected 110 kV transmission lines; Power supply of 220kV highways at distribution yard of Trung Nam Power Plant, commissioning of 220kV transmission line Ninh Phuoc – Thuan Nam….
By the end of February 2023, units of the entire EVN have completed 97.18% of the digital transformation implementation plan, in which the areas of business and customer service and construction investments are established, 100% completed, some areas have been completed with a peak such as internal administration ( 99.93%) and production (96%).
