Farmers in Phu Duc, Phu Tho, Phu Cuong, Phu Hiep, Phu Thanh B Municipalities and Tram Chim City (Tam Nong District, Dong Thap Province) are now very happy to harvest the 2022 litter harvest winning prize.
In the last harvest, the whole Tam Nong district planted over 100 ha of papaya… Farmers are currently harvesting with an average yield of 4 tons of fresh papaya tubers/person and over 2 tons of dried papaya tubers for sowing/labor (1,000 m2). Many traders come to the place to shop and buy fresh papaya tubers and 50,000 VND/kg seed tubers (bamboo tubers were dried in 4 suns) at prices of 17,000 – 25,000 VND/kg. Compared to the same period last year, the selling price increased from VND 5,000 to 7,000/kg of fresh litter and VND 10,000/kg of seeds, making most of Tam Nong district growers high profits.
With the current sales price, after deducting all investment, drying and maintenance costs, farmers have a profit of 170 to over 200 million VND/ha litter.
