In the past, the weather in Quang Ninh Province has repeatedly been unfavorable, and some diseases have appeared in the main agricultural areas of the province with the change of seasons.

Specifically, white spot disease killed about 850,000 shrimp in 6,600 m² ponds in Quang Yen city. Hepatopancreatic necrosis disease and white spot disease appeared in more than 54 hectares of shrimp ponds, causing damage to about 90 farm households in Quang Yen City and Mong Cai Town, Tien Yen District, Cam Pha City…

Mr. Vu Dinh Quyen (Cong Hoa Township, Cam Pha City) shared, “There have been shrimp in my breeding pond for more than two months, because the shrimp are eating well, the new employee increased the amount of feed due to inexperience.” Shrimp. As a result, shrimp grow quickly, but the resistance is weaker as a result.

According to Mr. Quyen, given the storm, it is necessary to reduce the amount of feed and the number of meals for shrimp. In addition, lowering the water temperature is very important. Therefore, during the main sunshine period of the day (from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), it is necessary to take measures such as microorganisms. to increase shrimp resistance. This minimizes the risks and pathogens for farmed shrimp.

In Mong Cai City, in early April 2023, due to complicated and abnormal weather conditions, a situation occurred in the area where farmed shrimp suffered from acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease that appeared in the area. 5 townships and districts including Hai Hoa, Ninh Duong, Hai Yen, Binh Ngoc and Hai Xuan.

Immediately after the discovery of the disease, the Mong Cai City People’s Committee requested departments to coordinate with township and county people’s committees to control the disease and direct shrimp farming households to treat infected ponds with chemicals. Chlorine to prevent water diseases do not discharge water affecting the environment.

Before the epidemic caused damage to shrimp farming households in the area, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ninh Province quickly coordinated with communities for zoning and urgent containment of the epidemic to prevent a large-scale outbreak.

Recently, Mr. Tran’s delegation went to some diseased shrimp farms to conduct sampling of farmed shrimp, water sampling and physical inspection, and explained how to prevent and treat dead shrimp ponds to ensure environmental hygiene. To avoid spreading that affects production and the sowing season.

Mr. Dong said that when the phenomenon of weak or dead shrimp occurs, households raising shrimp must regularly grasp the situation of shrimp farming to notify surrounding households to prevent and control and notify the community people’s committee.

It is predicted that the disease situation in farmed shrimp will continue to be complicated in the coming period and is likely to spread to a large area. In order to swiftly implement disease prevention measures in farmed shrimp and minimize harm to households, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Subdivision of Livestock Production and Animal Health will continue to support chlorine chemicals to focus on treatment. Timely management of diseased shrimp ponds in the spring-summer 2023 harvest.

In order to proactively prevent waterborne diseases early in the farming season, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development instructs the industry functional units to recommend farmers to stockpile according to the planning area and timeframe.

In addition, the department organizes inspections of production and trade activities of aquatic breeds in the region, closely monitors epidemics in agricultural areas, and monitors the use of medicines and chemicals in aquaculture. Detecting and fighting outbreaks as soon as they occur prevent the disease from spreading.

In the first five months of 2023, the total seafood production in Quang Ninh reached 61,000 tons, up 3.7% from the same period in 2022, of which nearly 31,000 tons were farmed and over 30,000 tons were exploited.
