The yard in front of the house, the piece of land after the summer … leave the land empty all year round, in December they can go to the beds to sow lettuce, fenugreek, greens, onions, cilantro …
The trend of growing vegetables at home to self-serve the daily meals in the households helps many rural homes to have both a soft green color like spring drying, as well as vegetables and fruits to enhance the meals.

Nutritious vegetable garden
In the afternoon, in An Dinh Township, Tuy An District (Phu Yen), Ms. Nguyen Thi Diep draws water to irrigate the vegetable garden in front of her house with all kinds of vegetables. She said: “My family doesn’t grow vegetables all year round, only during Tet. At the beginning of December we sow seeds with all kinds of vegetables, from coriander, cabbage, fenugreek, lettuce, onions… Traditionally “growing vegetables to celebrate Tet, if you don’t grow vegetables you see an incomplete Tet”.
Mr. Le Van Nghia’s family’s garden nearby is also green with “sweet” vegetable beds, along the fence, bitter melon, cucumber, green beans sprouting yellow flowers. Mr. Nghia’s vegetable garden is also the movement of vegetable cultivation to celebrate Tet of many rural families, every house has a garden with green vegetables, cabbage, lettuce, lettuce, tomatoes… it looks very cute.
Mr Nghia said: In order to have a source of clean food at home, many families grow green vegetables and have become the “nutritional vegetable garden” movement at home. Vegetables do not use chemical fertilizers, only manure, kitchen ash. Vegetable garden like indoor green vegetable market, pick up a basket of green vegetables, cilantro, spicy cabbage, lettuce, basil, basil…served with pork, melon, delicious melaleuca in the afternoon!

Along the route through Dong Xuan District (Phu Yen), each house grows a few vegetable beds in an empty field, including onion, coriander, fenugreek, lettuce, etc. Ms. Bui Thi Thanh in Tan Binh Village, Xuan Son Bac Township (Dong District Xuan) picking vegetables in the garden Almost every house grows vegetables to celebrate Tet, many have green vegetable fields. New Year’s Day food is full of meat, with raw vegetables, it does not feel cold.
Xuan Son Bac Township runs along the Cai River (Ky Lo River). During the rainy season, the waters of the Cai River overflow, causing frequent flooding. Therefore, the government supports the construction of houses to avoid flooding. Ms. Bui Thi Thanh, however, as she plowed the side of the house to plant vegetables, wasn’t reassured because she feared the floodwaters would “eat her up,” so she had to grab some broken pots and pans to grow more onions plant , coriander…

Ms. Bui Thi Duyen from Division 2 of Tuy Hoa City saw the “cute” vegetable garden on her way home to visit her hometown in Dong Xuan District, stopped to look thoughtfully, and said, “There is one in the city Atmosphere to celebrate Tet is not as happy as in the countryside, because hundreds of thousands buy it, do not grow it yourself, but even if you want to plant it, you can’t do it, in the adjacent town there is no place for people to go in and out , and there is no place to grow vegetables on empty land. The color of Tet, many people say, the country celebrates Tet early, that’s true!”
Eat Tet by the end of January
The rural people create a vegetable garden to celebrate Tet, below to plant vegetables, above to build a truss for gourds and gourds. The gourds, round gourds, are spread all over the framework. Mr. Thai Van Sau in Xuan Phuoc Township, Dong Xuan District, picks young gourds. Because when the squash is old, it does not spoil for a whole month, while the squash is small enough to be cooked for one meal, the large fruit is half a meter long, cut in half to cook soup or to fry, the rest stays on the rig, the squash is still alive, green, cut up a few meals and cook again.

Vegetable gardening is an indispensable thing for many people during Tet.
Mr. Sau said: The dish of pumpkin, pumpkin only needs to cook a soup with crushed peanuts, seasoned with a little salt, a little sugar, a little monosodium glutamate, chopped coriander and sprinkled on the soup pot is delicious … pumpkin, do it also squash um you just need to add oil to season with shallots to have squash um or make squash salad by chopping mix with copper cloves then squeeze lemon and add sugar. But for the fastest, one has to mention the cooked pumpkin dish. The boiled squash water can be made into a soup while the squash is dipped in concentrated pepper sauce, with a bit of hot chili and garlic to taste.
Next to Mr. Sau’s house is the vegetable garden of Mr. Nguyen Van Trang, who puts his head on the edge of the field. In the afternoon, when he comes back from work in the field, he throws water from the field around the roots of the gourds squeeze to water. “The simple but close yellow gourd, the well-known gourd, some houses build a trellis, some people put vines on the fence, and the B40 net is still blooming. I went away to work as a bricklayer a few years ago, but when I came back near Tet, I watched the gourd blossom for a long time, as if I had a Tet vegetable garden in my heart,” Trang said wistfully .

People use the open land to grow vegetables.
Mr. Huynh Tuan An, head of Dong Xuan District’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that growing vegetables from home gardens to provide daily meals is developing rapidly in the district. According to statistics, people in the entire district grow vegetables of all kinds on 540 hectares.
