On the afternoon of December 8, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held the opening and launching ceremony of the “Regional Safe Food Week” at the Big C Thang Long Trade Center in Ho Chi Minh City. Under the programme, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has carried out numerous activities to support companies and institutions that produce, trade and distribute food. Organizing many activities to increase exports of Vietnamese goods to supermarket chains by FDI companies investing in Vietnam, importing Vietnamese goods abroad, implementing the national trade promotion program. Coordinating with Ministries and Sectors to control and prevent the production and trade of counterfeit, substandard and contraband food of unknown origin.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Le Viet Nga, Deputy Director of the Internal Market Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that the programs have achieved positive results through the preliminary evaluation, such as: Groceries, especially safe groceries for the chain of modern retail stores…

At the same time, municipalities and agricultural cooperatives in agricultural production areas with strengths, large output and high seasonality have actively and actively coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The program attracts a large number of consumers to the growing chain of modern retail outlets in Vietnam and contributes to the stabilization of production for Vietnamese agricultural products and the development of the food distribution system.

So far, more than 90% of the goods traded in the Big C system are Vietnamese goods. In addition to promoting trade, Big C Thang Long and Central Retail focus on coordinating with departments and communities to organize fairs and participate in activities that link supply and demand between regions, such as agricultural products of the week, OCOP products, typical rural industrial products, Ha Tinh handicraft villages in Hanoi. This event has increased the consumption volume of Phuc Trach grapefruit products by more than 20 times after 3 years of sale in GO/Big C supermarkets.
