The model of cultivation of medicinal plants under the forest canopy, including Ngoc Linh ginseng and tin orchid, achieved on the top of Pu Rinh Mountain 1,200 m above sea level in Nang Cat Village (Tri Nang Township, Lang Chanh District, Thanh Hoa). initially positive results. opened up the prospect of developing the area with valuable medicinal plants for the local population.
Move from the village of Nang Cat to the place where the experiment grows rare medicinal varieties such as orchids and Ngoc Linh ginseng for more than 10 km.
The variety of tin orchid tested here is an extremely rare red colored orchid. This orchid used to grow and live well under the canopy of Pu Rinh peak, now it has been raised and planted under the canopy with 2 hectares test area. Due to the period of incubation and planting under the forest canopy, this orchid grows very well, the survival rate is high.
Nearly 10,000 seedlings are planted for Ngoc Linh Ginseng, of which 7,000 plants are directly planted with ginseng seeds. At present, ginseng varieties planted under the tree canopy on the top of Pu Rinh Mountain are growing well, the trees are healthy, have flowers and fruits, have beds 3 to 4 years old or more, and are gradually becoming after harvested.
Through research and evaluation, the climate and soil at the top of Pu Rinh Mountain are suitable and likely to adapt to Ngoc Linh ginseng, so that after a period of planting, it is well grown and developed.
Every day, the officials involved in the pilot model specifically monitor and document the growth process of the ginseng since planting. If there are any abnormal signs, they are reported, discussed with people with deep expertise, and always receive guidance, advice and timely treatment.
