Nguyen Thi Tuyet, a tourist from Hanoi, shared, “This is the third time I go to Lang Son, but this time I was on the occasion of Tet. Unlike peach trees in some regions such as Nhat Tan (Hanoi), yellow peaches, Meo peaches (Lao Cai), Moc Chau peaches (Son La)… Lang Son’s peach blossoms are pure and gentle. When she’s as pure as white peaches, as red as peaches fade, as beautiful as peach bells and brilliant and alluring as velvety peaches.

Each type of flower has a different beauty, creating a land of Lang full of flavor. Particularly rare are the centuries-old peach trees or the natural variety of bell peach, which can only be found in the mountainous region of Mau Son.

In addition to the cultural and spiritual values, the peach blossom in Lang also brings economic benefits to the local people. It is estimated that households growing peaches during Tet have an average income of tens to hundreds of millions of VND per peach harvest, in high-income years the income can range from 300 to over 500 million VND.

Mr. Hoang Van Dong, Quang Hong Village, Quang Lac Township, Lang Son City, renovated the family’s hilly garden and planted nearly 200 peach trees, mainly peaches and peaches. His garden, in particular, has peach roots that are almost ten years old.

“Thanks to the organization of a peach blossom festival by the municipality, people from the province have also come a lot to shop in recent years. Thanks to the peach orchard, my family has more income. Last year I also sold peaches for almost VND 30 million, this year peaches bloomed late, but there were people who came to see and order trees in advance,” Mr Dong said.

Increase the brand value of “Lang Son Peach Blossom”

In order to recognize the value of the peach tree while preserving the valuable genetic resources of the peach blossom tree, on October 31, 2018, the UNBD Lang Son Province decided to approve the project of preserving and developing the value of peach trees and co-organize a peach blossom festival in Lang a total investment of more than VND 114 billion.

After 3 years of implementation of the project, it can be seen that the approach and application of science and technology has focused on the preservation, planting and care of peaches and peach trees in Lang Son. This gradually raises the awareness of professional agencies, cooperatives, gardeners and farmers.

In order to promote the image of the peach tree in Lang, the province has coordinated the organization of cultural and tourist events such as: Peach Blossom Festival , peach blossom market, beautiful peach tree competition every Tet until spring… In addition, tour operators have also actively linked tours and sightseeing routes.
