In his speech, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed that companies are the “heroes” of the economy, which will bring the trade turnover between Vietnam and Thailand to US$30 billion by 2025.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed that Thailand and Vietnam are strategic partners for each other and always support each other to overcome difficulties for better development, both bilaterally and in the regional and regional framework. The President was pleased to witness the announcement ceremony of the QR code payment link between Vietnam and Thailand; said it is living proof of the effective cooperation between the two countries’ administrative bodies, enterprises and commercial banking systems, which helps promote trade and tourism, and particularly encourages the use of each country’s dong currency.

For the last 30 years, especially the last 10 years, Thailand has been one of Vietnam’s largest trading partners. During the visit, leaders of the two countries agreed to set a goal of increasing bilateral sales to $25-30 billion by 2025. To achieve this goal, the President said that the great role of the businessmen of the two countries, especially the typical enterprises, makes an important contribution to the economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Thai Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith expressed his delight at the results of cooperation between the two countries, particularly the alignment of cooperation during President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Thailand.

He stressed that the Vietnam Trade and Industry Association has signed a cooperation agreement with the Trade Commission of Thailand with many provisions to help companies promote cooperation and investment.

At the same time, the banks of both sides launched a cross-border QR code payment service between Thailand and Vietnam, hoping to promote consumption, tourism and trade between the two countries and promote the use of QR codes in each country.

The Thai finance minister is also particularly interested in cooperation between the public and private sectors in each country; Thailand is also striving to support many new aspects in line with the world’s new economic trend, the digital economy, thereby supporting investment and tourism, and making Thai companies and Vietnam more favorable in business cooperation.

At the event, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc witnessed the launch of the cross-border QR code payment service between Thailand and Vietnam. Delegates attending the event witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) in Chonburi Province and the Alliance for International Investment Promotion – Invest Global.

The memorandum of understanding includes contents of cooperation between the two sides in the implementation of trade and investment promotion activities such as: promoting the exchange of information on strategies, supporting business cooperation and encouraging companies of both countries to participate in business-related events and creating conditions for companies to connect to expand business networks.

Also at the meeting with typical Vietnamese-Thai companies, the authorities of both countries supported the companies of the two countries in exchanging and expanding new areas of cooperation instead of traditional areas, such as energy, high technology, renewable technologies, environment, finance – banking.
