Mr. Henry Bui, General Manager of Hoan Vu Science and Technology Company Limited, Quality and traceability information is the “passports” for agricultural exports.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Truong, general director of Dai Thanh Joint Stock Company, said at the “Stabilizing Quality and Ensuring Agricultural Product Standards of Agricultural Cooperatives” forum on Nov. 22 that farmers need to improve the quality of agricultural products and keep stable scientific and technical advances in to incorporate agricultural cultivation. This helps the production process to become accurate and ensure market standards and limit human error.

Quality and traceability information is the “passport” for agricultural exports.

For example, using multi-function drones in rice cultivation to reduce emissions will support the activities of sowing seeds, applying fertilizers and spraying pesticides to the minute, said Nguyen Duc Truong. From there, minimizing the use of pesticides beyond the allowable threshold, which is difficult for humans to achieve accurately.

“In addition to using multi-functional agricultural aircraft, the intelligent fertilizer and pesticide management system also helps farmers understand the status of pesticide use, fertilizer use, seed rate and pests 24/7, and make appropriate adjustments when the technical parameters are exceeded allowable threshold,” said Mr. Nguyen Duc Truong.

According to Mr. Henry Bui, general manager of Hoan Vu Science and Technology Co., Ltd., quality and traceability information is the “passport” for exporting agricultural products. Currently, after 15 years of operation, Hoan Vu Company has techniques for analyzing, determining the quality and tracing the origin of agricultural products through molecular technology, especially through stable isotopes.

“Stable isotopic analysis techniques allow the analysis of the stable isotopic composition of specific compounds and provide a deeper exploration of the fundamental processes responsible for ecological or environmental changes at the molecular level,” said Mr. Henry Bui.

Applying this technology, Hoan Vu can identify traces of sugar in honey, the organic origin of dragon fruit, substances added to fruit juice, distinguish farmed black tiger shrimp from natural black tiger shrimp, or determine whether the fertilizer used is organic or not. With the above skills, the general director of Hoan Vu Science and Technology Co., Ltd confirmed that the stable isotope analysis technique paves the way for the era of authenticating the origin of agricultural products and all kinds of food.

At the forum, Mr. Pham Quoc Liem, General Manager of Unifarm Binh Duong Company, shared his experience of producing high-quality agricultural products to conquer difficult markets and how to connect and cooperate with farms and satellite farmers for sustainable development.

According to Mr. Liem, the first step in producing agricultural products that are suitable for both the domestic market and for export, especially to difficult markets, is that people need to know which crops to grow.

“In order to select the products to be produced, it is necessary to carry out a market demand survey. We produce what the market needs, not what we can. A selected product must have both strengths to deliver in the domestic market and be suitable for export,” said Pham Quoc Liem.

In the second step, after identifying the product that is demanded in the market, Mr. Pham Quoc Liem said that it is necessary to have a plan and a solution to compete with the countries that produce this product. It is not recommended to produce to the standards of each specific market, but to determine production to the highest standards for that type of agricultural product.

“After being successful and achieving certain results, Unifarm Binh Duong Company has trained people through collaboration with farms and households, cooperatives, from valuable real-world experiences. From there to connect and collaborate with farms and satellite builders for sustainable development,” said Pham Quoc Liem.
