Ready-to-assemble furniture is becoming increasingly popular in the furniture market. Coffee tables, bookshelves, kitchen shelves and stools are among the furniture with ready-to-assemble furniture. This furniture or ready-to-assemble furniture is mainly sold in Wal-Marts and some discount stores. Also big companies like IKEA have extended their designs to RTA and are making it available to consumers worldwide.

So what’s the deal with RTA furniture? Why do some people buy it and why do some people still choose ready made furniture?

RTA furniture designs are limited. Since assembly is left up to the consumer, manufacturers have taken care to ensure that the individual parts are shaped regularly enough for consumers to assemble. Complicated parts and intricate designs may prove frustrating for the consumer to assemble or may require more complicated assembly tools. With furniture and RTAS being imported from major furniture manufacturers around the world, instructions and foreign language translations can pose another problem for the DIY enthusiast.

On the plus side, they are relatively less expensive compared to ready-made furniture. An RTA furniture owner will not hesitate to repaint their RTAs to match the color scheme of their new home, or to restyle and modify them to their own liking when the old RTA look gets boring. However, an owner of expensive antique furniture that is ready to use will certainly think more than twice about having their expensive furniture repainted or reupholstered.

As these are designed for functionality rather than aesthetic purposes in your home, they are therefore ideal furniture for apartments, boarding schools and small family homes. And since they can be assembled by anyone, they can also be disassembled by anyone who moves or moves to a new location. They are practical. They can be disassembled, packed into flat packs and transported from place to place without having to deal with the problem of taking up most of the space in the mover’s van.

RTA furniture has its own disadvantages and advantages. Knowing these will definitely save the furniture buyer a lot of time and even a lot more money.
