The factory will be managed by Yen Bai Mulberry Silk Joint Stock Company and will be commissioned from December 2022 with a capacity of 150 tons of silk/year.
Mr. Vu Xuan Truong, Director of Yen Bai Mulberry Joint Stock Company said: With the scale of production design, the company can purchase the entire number of cocoons from silkworm breeding households in Tran Yen District by signing contracts for the purchase of silkworm cocoons by cooperatives ( Cooperatives ) and dealers at a stable purchase price.
The company is also a unit to connect suppliers of silkworm eggs and silkworm breeding materials with and introduce them to cooperatives and households that breed silkworms in the district, and provide technical guidance to silkworm breeders to improve the quality of cocoons.

In order to ensure stable production of the factory from the summer-autumn 2022 silkworm harvest, the company has bought 15 tons of cocoons with an average price of 170,000 – 180,000 VND/kg, sometimes class 1 cocoons are bought up to 180,000 VND/kg up to 210,000VND/kg. This has helped people feel secure in the production and investment to expand the mulberry cultivation area for silkworm rearing.
According to Mr. Vu Xuan Truong, all of the company’s silk products are exported to India, Japan and EU countries after processing.
2023, a breakthrough year for Yen Bai’s mulberry industry

Ms. Trieu Thi Bich Lieu, head of Tran Yen District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: Tran Yen is the largest strawberry-growing area in Yen Bai Province, harvesting over 800 hectares of leaves. In 2022, the district will plant more than 80 ha of young strawberries, and by 2025, the strawberry area in the entire district is expected to reach over 1,200 ha. In 2022, the annual production of cocoons will reach about 1,300 tons, bringing in more than VND 10 billion.

With a capacity of 150 tons of silk/year, all the silkworm cocoons of the people in the district are consumed by the company. With high and stable purchase prices, people no longer have to worry about dealers enforcing prices and feel safe to invest in production.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, Director of Y Can Mulberry and Silk Cooperative (Tran Yen District) shared: Yen Bai Mulberry Joint Stock Company has been put into operation as a driving force for farmers to further expand mulberry cultivation areas and make more investments around increase the yield of existing mulberry leaves, increase the production and quality of the cocoons. The commissioned silk factory has solved the long-desired problem of people, that is, the cocoons produced are purchased and purchased at a stable price.
Ms. Tran Thu Trang from Thang Loi Village, Y Can Township said, “My family has been growing mulberries to raise silkworms since 2013, all the cocoons of people from the district, everyone is excited. The quality of the seeds is guaranteed, the yield of silkworm cocoons is high…”.
With about 0.3 ha of land dedicated to growing mulberries to raise silkworms, Ms. Trang’s family will earn about 8 quintals of silkworms in 2022, about 100 million dongs. In 2023, the silk factory started operating with a high and stable price for buying cocoons, so her family actively rented more land to expand investment in planting mulberries for silkworm rearing. Currently, Ms. Trang’s family owns about 2 acres of mulberry trees collecting leaves. With the current acreage, when they are out harvesting on the days when silkworms are free, their family needs to hire more people to make sure there are leaves for the silkworms to eat.
Up to now, there are more than 1,500 households engaged in silkworm farming in Tran Yen district, mainly in Quy Mong, Viet Thanh, Y Can, Bao Dap communes… The district has established 13 mulberry cooperatives and 22 baby silkworm rearing houses. . The silk factory in Bao Dap Township started production and confirmed the sustainable development chain for mulberry and silkworm farming in Tran Yen District in general and Yen Bai Province in particular. The mulberry tree is increasingly asserting its position in socio-economic development and is the most important crop in agricultural production of Tran Yen District.
