Many years ago, when Song Ma Longan was ripe for high yields, people in the area usually only sold small quantities and could not find a market for the product. Song Ma Longan is consumed in small quantities in China on a limited basis.
In order for Song Ma Longan to be sold in large quantities and at high prices, the local government has endorsed many policies and passed science and technology to cooperatives and people so that they can apply and completely change agricultural methods to improve the quality of life. Quality products that meet consumer expectations and needs.
One of the development directions is to focus on exporting longan to well-known markets such as the United States, China and Europe.
In view of these potential markets, the products must meet international requirements. To overcome technical barriers, cooperatives and households have focused on applying quality and food safety standards such as VietGAP, Organic, GlobalGAP, ISO 22000, etc.
Compliance with these standards not only improves product quality, but also ensures that the manufacturing process meets international standards. At the same time, the use of advanced technology in the cultivation, care and preservation process helps to preserve the freshness and quality of the longan during harvesting, packaging and transport.
Song Ma Longan not only focused on product quality, but also diversified products and added value to open up the export market. Households, enterprises and cooperatives have invested in the research and processing of longan, which increases its value and provides diverse choices for customers in the international market.
Since 2018, Song Ma District has focused on helping households grow longan to achieve the goal of official export. With the largest longan-growing area in the country, the district has helped people get a growing area code according to the export market. By 2023, the entire county will have 48 longan cultivation primaries, covering a total area of more than 480 ha, of which 12 longan primaries will be exported to the US market; 23 longan cultivation primaries for export to China; 13 primaries for growing longan for export to Australia and New Zealand.
At present, there are 47 cooperatives and 1 company throughout the district, which produce safe fruit using the VietGAP method with 50 link chains, covering an area of more than 900 hectares and fruit production of nearly 9,780 tons.
In 2023, the total production is estimated to be over 70,000 tons and there are now 4,500 tons of fresh fruit (early longan) for domestic consumption. It is expected that on July 28, 2023, the first two containers of the year will be exported to the China, EU and UK markets.
Actively promote trade and promote the brand
In addition to applying international standards to improve product quality, Song Ma District is also actively building various programs to promote Song Ma’s trade and brand.
On June 21, 2017, the National Intellectual Property Office (Ministry of Science and Technology) awarded the “Song Ma Label Certification Mark” registration certificate, marking an important milestone on the way to realizing Song Ma’s goal of contributing to that this high quality agricultural product is consolidating its position and increasing its value for distribution on domestic and foreign markets.
Every year, the county organizes the “Song Ma Longan Festival” to introduce and promote the “Song Ma Longan” brand to a large number of consumers, domestic and foreign tourists. Numerous product presentation activities and competitions took place; Signing the sale of longan products between households, businesses and cooperatives; Cut the leader tape in shipping export labels.
Trade promotion and brand promotion activities play an important role in expanding export markets for Song Ma Longan. Companies and cooperatives have participated in international exhibitions, met potential partners and established a network of links with importers and distributors.
