These days, the safe vegetable area of ​​Thuan Nghia in Phu Phong Town (Tay Son District, Binh Dinh) becomes very lively as people rush to fruit and vegetables to sell in time for Tet. According to Mr. Quach Van Cau, director of Thuan Nghia Agricultural Cooperative, in 10 days when the weather is favorable, people will go to the fields to sow vegetables, the vegetable area will be busier than normal days. Because this vegetable harvest will bring people money to buy wine and meat, buy jam for the family to celebrate Tet, and new clothes for their children.

Currently, Thuan Nghia’s vegetable area has 19.5 hectares recognized as safe vegetables. There are 9 groups with the same interest in producing safe vegetables according to VietGAP standards with 244 members. Ms. Le Thi Phu, an experienced vegetable grower in Thuan Nghia, has now seeded more than 2 Sao Onions (500m2/Sao) and 3 Sao Leafy Greens.

Ms. Phu shared, “I am always conscious of following the production process to produce vegetable products according to VietGAP standards. Before production, I carefully prepare from the stage of soil preparation, while growing vegetables, I take care of vegetables according to the correct procedure to produce high-quality vegetables in time for Tet sale. Doing business all year round, at the end of the year is rich or not, the vegetable farmers here are all anticipating the Tet vegetable harvest, so this vegetable season people are focusing on investing in their vegetables!”

The fear of flooding is looming

According to Mr. Quach Van Cau, director of Thuan Nghia Agricultural Cooperative, in recent days of sunshine, vegetable farmers in Thuan Nghia invite each other to work in the fields and plant beds to prepare for the Tet vegetable harvest. However, when vegetable farmers in Thuan Nghia heard the weather forecast about the heavy rain that will occur in early December 2022, they were extremely concerned, many people stopped to sow fruit and vegetables. The people cover the areas that have been plowed and planted with plastic sheeting to avoid being washed away by the rain. When the rain stops, take out the tarp to start sowing. Close the closet to avoid drifting.

“The fruit and vegetable areas sown for 10 days are no longer afraid of seed loss, only afraid of the areas just sown in the last days of November, although the fruit and vegetable areas are not afraid of losing seeds if there is too much If it rains, it will affect growth and productivity loss,” Mr. Cau fears.

Vegetable farmers in An Lao district are no exception, currently very concerned when vegetables grown for Tet sale, such as cabbage, cucumber, bitter melon, white radish, chilli, onion, lettuce…, are seeded since the beginning of October of the moon Calendar (25 October of the solar calendar).

Ms. Vo Thi Huong, who has been growing vegetables in Tan Lap Village, An Tan Township (An Lao District) for 20 years, is currently growing more than 5 Sao cucumbers, bitter melon, until now the bitter melon has started bearing its first fruit. . Currently, bitter melon is bought from traders in the garden at prices ranging from 16,000 to 18,000 VND/kg. According to Ms. Huong, if this price is stable and lasts until Tet, she will have an income of 10 million dong for each pole of suffering and be sure to have a warm Tet.

In the secure vegetable area of ​​Phuoc Hiep Agricultural Cooperative (Tuy Phuoc District), which has 13 acres of specialized vegetable cultivation towards VietGAP, 6 acres of fruit vegetables such as bitter melon, okra, peas, In the remaining area, people grow leafy greens regularly by Crop after crop is produced, with crops rotating throughout the year. As for cucumbers in Phuoc Hiep vegetable area, people haven’t planted them yet because the growing season of cucumbers is only 40 days, so vegetable growers here are waiting until the first rain in December of the coming calendar to come down. equally.

“In Binh Dinh, there are currently 50 groups with the same interest in safe vegetable production covering an area of ​​over 100 ha. 20 groups with similar interests from the agricultural cooperatives Phuoc Hiep (Tuy Phuoc district), Thuan Nghia (Tay Son district ) and Nhon Tho (An Nhon City). Groups with similar interests use the “La Lanh” brand name to market products.
