The population of ancient Shan Tuyet tea trees in Suoi Giang commune grows on mountain ranges 1,300-1,800 m above sea level, surrounded by clouds all year round. Ancient Shan Tuyet tea in Suoi Giang Township, Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province has been recognized as a Vietnamese cultural tree by the Vietnam Environment and Nature Protection Association.
At the reception ceremony, Mr. Dinh Huu Phi, Director of the Intellectual Property Department (Ministry of Science and Technology) said: Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea brand has been certified according to Decision No. 5346 D-IP of November 4, 2022 including municipalities : Nam Bung, Gia Hoi, Nam Muoi, Sung Do, Suoi Quyen, Suoi Giang and Suoi Bu in Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province.
Suoi Giang Township has more than 500 ha of Shan Tuyet tea with an annual output of 600 tons of fresh bud tea; There are 400 historical tea trees that are between 100 and 350 years old. Tea plays an important role in spiritual life and brings high efficiency in poverty alleviation and community tourism development.
Some other products have also been granted geographical protection titles by the National Office of Intellectual Property, such as B.: Decision No. 5345/QD-SHTT of 04/11/2022 for the orange brand Van Chan; Decision No. 88330/QD-SHTT of November 17, 2021 for the collective brand product “Van Chan Honey”.
The orange area in Van Chan district is more than 2,000 hectares, the production is about 10,000 tons/year and brings in nearly 200 billion VND income; Honey production is about 100 tons/year.
Obtaining the Geographical Origin Diploma for the products “Cam Van Chan”, “Shan Tuyet Tea Suoi Giang Van Chan” and the collective brand “Van Chan Honey” aims to better control the quality and increase the value of the products in order to promote the Increasing the competitiveness of products on the market.
This is a very important premise for Suoi Giang tea, Van Chan orange and honey products to continue to maintain their position and value, and meet household expectations and expectations. This is a practical action that demonstrates the innovation of thought, thought and action in the cultivation and care of tea, oranges and beekeeping for honey, with the aim of producing clean, organic and high quality products, meeting the needs of the market and improve people’s incomes. This will contribute to the successful implementation of the Agricultural Sector Restructuring Project in Yen Bai Province in general and Van Chan District in particular towards value-added growth and sustainable development.
