Tomorrow the retail scene will be empty of shoppers
At noon on the 30th of the 12th lunar month, visit apricot retail stores along National Highway 1A, the section through Binh Dinh District (An Nhon City, Binh Dinh) at the bow of the boat in front of the Motor Vehicle Registration Center 77-03D and Am End of the boat at the end of Le Hong Phong street (Binh Dinh district) tomorrow we can clearly see the somber faces of retail property owners here.
It’s already the 30th day of Tet and the apricot scene is still busy, although most of the apricot trees have blossomed or green buds. Owners of apricot retail space sadly tidy up the mats and folding beds and put the apricot pots on the car to take home because there are no customers to buy.
If we ask about the owners of the many ornamental apricots, we know that the weather in Binh Dinh is warm and sunny from the 21st day of the second lunar month, when the garden sheds grow green buds, traders from the north rush to An Nhon to buy apricots and bring home buy apricots sell Tet in time. Due to the prolonged cold rain this year, most of the apricot orchards in An Nhon are “deaf” from buds, so when the morning blooms, how many traders in the north will “catch” them all, buyers and sellers must also buy This price is for the Retail sales to consumers, gardeners who have early apricot flower buds will win big.
For example, Mr. Tran Van Thuy in Phuoc Hung Township (Tuy Phuoc District, Binh Dinh), his garden burst green buds in time, while northern traders aggressively solicited to buy apricots. At that time, thanks to a matchmaker, Thuy bought 200 apricot trees in Nhon Khanh Township (An Nhon City) and sprouted green buds at a price of VND 450,000/tree and immediately sold this lot of apricots to northern traders for VND 800,000 /tree, Mr. Thuy made a profit of 70 million VND.
As of December 25, merchants in the north stop buying apricots, some apricots are sold along National Road 1A mainly for trucks from the north to retail for Tet holidays and to local consumers. Unlike last year, retail sales were very expensive, this year has been surprisingly slow.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dong in Nhon An Township (An Nhon City) bought another 100 4-year-old apricot trees at a price of VND 450,000/tree for retail this year, in addition to the 300 apricot trees he planted. It was noon on the 30th day of the 12th lunar month, but Mr. Dong sold only 30 trees at VND600,000-7,000/tree. For the remaining 370 trees, he had to rent a car to bring them back to the garden and grow them.
According to Mr. Dong, he rented the 4m wide land at the bow of the Le Hong Phong boat for 5.5 million due to unfavorable terrain, the other land is convenient for trucks to park and 4m wide to buy, but the rental price is up to 4M 8M/lot.
“This year I lost a lot of money, I lost my job selling for a dozen days and I lost money renting a car to transport from the garden to the place of sale. Tractors can carry 12 pots per trip, trucks can carry 18 pots/trip; The cost of transportation for a buggy is VND 150,000, for a truck it is VND 200,000/trip. My 400 pots of apricots had to transport almost 20 trucks, the truck lost almost 4 million VND. Including the rent of the property and the shipping costs, it was almost 10 million Dong, not to mention my own work. My house has a big garden, now I have a place to take it home, those who buy and sell houses without a garden need to rent land now to rent tomorrow,” Nguyen Van Dong said.
Even people from Phuoc Hung Township (Tuy Phuoc District) who drove apricots to Quy Nhon for sale were not much better. For example in the case of Mr. Nam Thu, who specializes in bringing apricots from Phuoc Hung to Quy Nhon to retail for consumers to play Tet. Every year, Mr. Thu has sold 60-70 million dongs by the evening of December 29, additional sales by the afternoon of December 30 also reached 150 million dongs. But this year, by the evening of December 29, Mr. Thu has only sold VND 6-7 million.
Cuc Tet is sold in expensive places
This year, most gardeners who grow chrysanthemums to sell Tet in Binh Dinh have won big: in mid-December, traders bought all the chrysanthemums in the garden. Especially merchants from the west and south bought many chrysanthemums this year, so that the selling price increased by VND 200,000/plant. Accordingly, even those who specialize in buying retail consumer buttons have to shop at high prices, according to retailers. Unexpectedly, this year there were no people who wanted to buy buttons to play Tet, at noon on December 30, although the price was reduced, the retail buttons in Quy Nhon were still full.
Tet chrysanthemum numbers are unexpectedly low this year, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Lu, who has a house on Doc Bao Street near Nguyen Tat Thanh Street where Tet chrysanthemums are mainly sold in Quy Nhon city. The reason given is that gardeners increased the number of overgrowing chrysanthemums this year while retail purchasing power was very weak, so the chrysanthemums were still “full bottom” at the end of the year.
“For the chrysanthemum pots which were previously planted in 50-60cm diameter pots, I asked them to quote the price at 800,000 VND/pot, but on December 29th I asked again and they said it was only 500,000 VND/pot. The smaller pots of chrysanthemums were previously sold for VND 300,000/pot, but on December 29 they cost only VND 200,000/pot, although the price was lowered, the sale didn’t work. I don’t know what’s going on in the afternoon and evening of December 30, but at that time the chrysanthemum is still full of beaches,” Lu said on December 30.
In An Nhon city, where there are many areas where daisies are grown for Tet sale, such as Vinh Liem Flower Village and Kim Chau Flower Village in Binh Dinh District, but because chrysanthemums from garden houses have been bought from merchants everywhere, is She only 29 years old In December, Tet chrysanthemum sales in An Nhon have picked up, while Tet chrysanthemum sales in Quy Nhon city have been sluggish. Therefore, many people go to Quy Nhon to buy buttons and bring them back to An Nhon to sell them for a profit.
Mr. Ba Le, a wounded soldier in Dong Da District (Quy Nhon City), plants about 600 pots of chrysanthemums a year to sell Tet. Years ago, up to December 29, Mr. Le had earned about 150 million VND from selling chrysanthemums, but this year to this day, Mr. Le has only collected about 40-50 million VND, proving his purchasing power is very weak.
