Tuyen Quang is a mountainous province in the northeast of the country, with a total natural area of ​​586,790 hectares, of which 540,404 hectares are agricultural land, accounting for 92.1%, which is very favorable for livestock development in the province. Currently, the province’s total buffalo herd is 90,300 animals, down 2% from the same period in 2021. The cattle herd numbered 38,400 head, an increase of 4.1% compared to the same period in 2021. Live meat production reached 67,500 tons, up 7.1% from the same period in 2021.

In order to proactively source feed for livestock, Tuyen Quang Provincial Agricultural Advisory Center has successfully implemented a biomass corn cultivation linkage model over the years. Typically, the cooperation model between Tuyen Quang Agricultural Extension Center and Minh Hoang Agricultural Cooperative, Phuc Thinh Commune, Chiem Hoa District, Vietnam Seed Group Joint Stock Company implements the association for cultivation of biomass corn summer-autumn harvest 2021 in some communes in Chiem Hoa district (using corn variety SSC586), with a size of 45 ha.

Currently, the province has 100 livestock farms, including 1 farm conforming to GlobalGAP international standards, 2 farms certified for high-tech applications; 5 certified large farms; 26 livestock and aquaculture farms VietGAHP certified disease-free; 70 livestock and aquaculture cooperatives operating in the form of clubs; 31 OCOP certified livestock and fishery products from 3 stars; 3 collectible brands are maintained, including Buffalo, Minh Huong Duck and Tan Tao Chicken.

In recent years, in order to promote the development of large-scale livestock production, the agricultural and rural development sector of Tuyen Quang Province has coordinated with related units to build and implement demonstration models and organize training for local people. Dissemination of information, implementation of the joint program along the value chain in animal husbandry, important contribution to the introduction of new breeds of livestock, new scientific and technological advances in the development of commodity-oriented animal husbandry, economic improvement efficiency in animal husbandry, increase in farmers’ income.
