Plastic cages made of HDPE material are not yet widely used in Vietnam, but have long been used very successfully in marine farming in advanced countries. To help marine aquaculture establishments to gain practical access to and properly appreciate the benefits of the HDPE cage materials rearing model, and have a plan on operating costs and organization methods for marine farms, to meet the demand of Vietnam Marine Aquaculture Association ( VSA) in cooperation with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Ho Chi Minh City just organized a training course on skills to build an industrial marine aquaculture facility for owners, departments and workers in the central coastal provinces.
The course was held at Ninh Thuan Vocational College, attended by 30 students who are officers of units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ninh Thuan and farm owners from Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa and Ninh provinces. Thuan and Binh Thuan.
As part of the training, the trainees were given knowledge about methods of industrial sea fish farming; established the technical requirements for the installation of small HDPE cages; Types of capital and operating expenses that meet the technical requirements … and skills to create income and expense tables; organize the production of an agricultural crop. Through the training course, the trainees realized that housing in HDPE cages has many advantages over wooden cages, i.e. In addition, HDPE cages are considered environmentally friendly and have a much higher durability than conventional cages.
Especially, due to its strong resistance to wind and waves, HDPE cages can be placed in the open sea, far from the shore, which helps the fish to grow and develop well, thereby improving the survival rate. With economic benefits and sustainability, the equipped knowledge will help owners develop more motivation and determination to change the sea farming model from traditional wooden rafts to HDPE cage farming to reduce risks.
