According to the Customs Sub-department of Tuyen Quang Province, the export of agricultural and forestry products of Tuyen Quang Province currently consists of tea, wood products and objects made of wood materials. In the first 10 months of the year, the export value of Tuyen Quang Province’s agricultural and forestry products reached more than US$229 million, up 69% from the same period last year.

Agroforestry products that have made a major contribution to increasing export value include pulp worth over US$19 million, base paper over US$19 million, plywood over US$64 million, and tea US$605,000. Dollar.

Pham Van Toan, deputy director of Tuyen Quang Customs Branch, said the reason for the sharp increase in export of agricultural and forestry products is that countries closed their doors for public import and export after the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic opened would have resumed activities. At the same time, the market for wood and forest products has increased demand in some countries, making export cheaper. Especially recently, the Chinese market has opened border gates, allowing many forest products to be easily consumed. 8 major processing plants were put into operation in the province, including: A 130,000 ton/year Hoa pulp and paper mill; Tuyen Quang Wood Processing Factory 5,000 m3/year; Wood Processing Factory in Thai Binh Township, Yen Son District 20,000 m3/year; Bamboo, base paper and pulp chopsticks factory in Ha Hang district, 7,500 tons products/year… The total investment capital is more than VND 1,328 billion of project works, expected to complete phase 1 and put into operation in January 2024.

At An Hoa Paper Joint Stock Company, in the first 10 months of the year, the company exported products such as photocopy paper, plain printing paper, wood chemical paper, bleached powder with a total value of more than USD 25 million.

Mr. Hoang Minh Son, HR and administration director at An Hoa Pulp and Paper Mill, said that the main source of raw materials purchased by the company is currently the purchase of chips. The company still keeps the same price at 2.5M/ton at 100 dry content, for straight cut raw materials at 50 dry content the purchase price is 1/2 of the above price.

The company always follows the market price, ensures that people are not disadvantaged and yet secures the sources of raw materials for the unit’s production activities. At present, in addition to the priority use of domestic raw materials, many of the company’s products processed from wood-based materials have increased compared to the same period last year.

Tuyen Quang Province currently has 8,588 hectares of tea with a production of over 71,700 tons/year. Tuyen Quang has 3 companies, factories that produce and process tea, including Song Lo Tea Joint Stock Company, Tan Trao Tea Joint Stock Company and My Lam Tea Joint Stock Company. In addition, there are many cooperatives, cooperative groups for tea production and trade. In recent years, Tuyen Quang’s tea industry has made many efforts to improve both brand name and product value. However, the main export products are raw tea products that have not been pre-processed and have not yet entered difficult markets.

Le Quang Chuyen, director of My Lam Tea Company, said that in order to increase the value of exported tea products beyond production, to meet EU and Japanese food safety standards, as they have committed with Unilever, the humane requirements of the program must be met for the sustainable development of agriculture are met.

Accordingly, the company always strives to develop business together with the interest in the voluntary implementation of 10 principles, including: environmental protection, ecosystem preservation, wildlife protection, water protection, fair treatment and working conditions of workers, health and safety at work, relationships to the community, integrates pest management IPM, soil protection and management, and integrated waste management.

In order to improve the position and value of local agroforestry products, Tuyen Quang Province is planning appropriate strategies and policies to guide the business community in formulating development strategies. In this strategy, the province gives particular priority to the application of new and digital technologies in production and business activity; Focus on deep processing, establish digital system in sales channels to expand market connection.
