The aim of the meeting was to evaluate the results of the first six months of the year on the supply situation in the market and to discuss solutions to ensure supply in the last months of 2023.

According to the Department of Domestic Markets report, in the first five months of 2023, the total supply of petroleum from two import and production sources reached about 9,779 million m3/ton (import accounted for 42.64%, domestic production accounted for 42.64%) . Domestic production accounted for 42.64% and 52.36%, with stocks of about 1,577 million tons/m3, which satisfies the consumption and production needs of people and businesses that have consumed petroleum in the past 5 months.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien, assessing the oil supply situation in the past period, said the world economy continued to fall into recession, crisis, inflation and supply disruptions in the first six months of 2023. In general, all countries are trying to get their economies back on track, but because of the recession, demand for gasoline is not high and world supply is not tight, and prices are less volatile.

Domestically, the supply of petroleum from two factories (Binh Son and Nghi Son) is quite stable in terms of production; Key companies and petroleum trading systems have gained a lot of experience (through the turbulent reality of the last months of 2022); In addition, ministries, branches, and municipalities offer many innovations in leadership, governance, management, and problem-solving for businesses.

According to the minister, in general, the main companies strictly comply with the law when supplying and trading petrol and oil. Many key companies have made great efforts to actively overcome the difficulties to provide relatively timely and sufficient petroleum for their distribution system, and even companies are willing to share the supply with companies. The focus is that private distributors are not part of the system.

Two manufacturing companies in particular (Binh Son, Nghi Son) have made great efforts to exceed and reach their capacity to supply the market with the promised production. Ministries, functional branches and local governments also have many innovations in carrying out their tasks and share difficulties with companies in the supply and trade of petroleum. Many new problems have emerged in the practice of petroleum production, supply and trade, which were mentioned by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Drafting Committee in the draft decree amending and supplementing Decree 83 and Decree 95 on the petroleum business.
