The shipment will be returned or destroyed in violation
On December 10, the leadership team of the Information Forum for Connecting Agricultural Production and Consumption (Forum Connecting Agricultural Products 970) held an online forum “Promoting the Export of Durian, Passion Fruit, Sweet Potato, Banana and Agricultural Products – Staple Foods for the Chinese Market”.
According to the Ministry of Plant Protection (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), China currently has 5 requirements for acreage for export to your country. That is, to apply Good Agricultural Practices (GAP); The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will oversee the plant quarantine issues in which the General Administration of Customs of China is interested; it must not be a plant quarantine object of interest to the General Administration of Customs of China; must be monitored and monitored for pests by technical personnel; must keep records of the surveillance and control of harmful organisms.
As for the packaging lines, it is necessary to set up a traceability and quality management system. After packaging, it must be stored in a separate area so that it is not combined with goods that are exported to other markets.
At the same time, pest control measures must be applied. Each box of goods exported to China must be printed with the growing region name, packing factory name, registration code, etc. in English or Chinese. Also, the words on the box are written in Chinese or English: “Exported to the People’s Republic of China” (输往中华人民共和国).
The packing area must be kept clean and has a hard surface. Packaging materials must be clean, hygienic, unused and comply with phytosanitary requirements. Wood packaging material is ISPM 15 compliant. Containers of sweet potatoes must be clean, sanitary and sanitizable.
Accordingly, China also issued warnings on how to deal with violations. In particular, the shipment will be returned or destroyed without a valid phytosanitary certificate. Shipments from unregistered processors will be returned or destroyed. If soil is found, the shipment will be returned or destroyed.
If phytosanitary items of interest to China, other living phytosanitary items or plant residues are found, the shipment will be treated, returned or destroyed. If other import control and quarantine regulations of China are not complied with, the shipment will be handled according to the relevant laws and regulations.
According to Mr. Le Thanh Hoa, director of the SPS office in Vietnam, the municipalities need to strengthen their close cooperation with the crop protection department in order to be able to make transparent every specific information about the timing and yield of each plant, for monitoring and export agricultural Products in compliance with processes and codes.
In addition, Mr. Hoa also said that the agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will also coordinate to develop best practices for each type of fruit to ensure export and meet the requirements you give.
Mr. Le Thanh Hoa shared more information on the official export of Vietnamese bird nest products to China, saying it is necessary to register the facility under the code. Safety surveillance requirements at primary processing facilities as well as common farming areas, issues related to disease surveillance, units must liaise with the Department of Animal Health for guidance such as testing and evaluation. Then there should be transparent reporting. In the case of bird’s nest products, businesses and establishments must ensure that the processing methods meet the requirements. It is necessary to process and heat in water about 70 – 80 degrees Celsius within 3.5 seconds.
The number of products should be 2,6,8 and the know-how “optionally participate”
With 15 years of experience building Vietnamese brands in the Chinese market, Dr. Tra My, president of the Provisional Vietnamese Business Association in China, said the market of 1.4 billion people is not “easy”.
DR. Tra My believes that Vietnamese companies do not understand enough about the Chinese market. Therefore, the president of the Provisional Vietnamese Business Association in China said the first thing to do is to protect the brand before Vietnamese agricultural products are brought to the market of 1.4 billion people.
Next, we need to find importers or distributors who have economic potential, good distribution channels and a team dedicated to developing Vietnamese agricultural products brand.
“In addition, Vietnamese companies should take advantage of overseas Vietnamese resources or Vietnamese business associations in local countries. Overseas Vietnamese are very proud to help bring Vietnamese agricultural products to the world,” said Ms. Tra My.
Also, Vietnamese companies should change their mindset, not sell what they have but do more research on the market they need to penetrate.
At the same time, Vietnamese companies should “freely join”. China is a country with very high requirements for designs, the quantity is not big, but the gift box must be beautiful. Therefore, Vietnam needs to focus on design and pay special attention to the number of products, which should be 2,6,8.
Finally, Vietnamese companies that want to do long-term business should open a representative office or subsidiary in China.
At the forum, Mr. Bob Wang, Chairman of Nanning Business Association, Guangxi Province, China, shared 5 proposals for exporting Vietnamese fruits to China.
First, Mr. Bob Wang suggested that the Vietnamese authorities and fruit growers strictly control the quality of the fruit and develop unified rules to ensure that the harvesting and sterilization of the Vietnamese fruit Nam meets international standards and does not use chemicals or pesticides that violate regulations . Strict requirements are also imposed on the packaging and the sales process.
At the same time, Mr. Wang recommended that Vietnamese fruit must adopt a quality traceability system when exported.
Second, many Vietnamese fruit producers have no understanding of Chinese market trends and sell passively without understanding the real needs of the market. When China’s wholesale markets open in the morning, Thai traders are usually quick to pick up prices and sell products efficiently, while Vietnamese traders are slower.
Therefore, Vietnam needs to build a new agricultural model that closely connects producers and sellers and can capture the latest Chinese market information.
“Third, since Vietnamese durian was allowed to enter the Chinese market in September this year, Vietnamese durian has been favored by Chinese consumers. Months later, however, an unusual situation arose. Occurrence of these situations is very detrimental to the long-term development of Vietnamese durians in the Chinese market, and we hope the Vietnamese side will take notice,” said Bob Wang.
Fourth, the chairman of the Nanning Business Association, Guangxi Province, China, suggested that the Vietnamese government set up an agency to promote agricultural trade with China to help brand building and marketing of Vietnamese agricultural products in China. Whether it is establishing a permanent office in China or through online shopping, it offers Chinese buyers more convenient shopping channels with fewer middlemen.
“On Thursday, we will launch the International Fruit Market project in China this year, and the first stop will be the permanent venue of China-ASEAN Expo: Nanning, capital government of Guangxi Province.
We are planning to hold a large-scale Vietnamese durian exhibition and sale in Nanning around the 24th of this month, mainly through the online pre-sale model, to innovate the sales model of Vietnamese fruit in China.
In other words, in this way, in the future, Vietnamese fruits could have just been picked in Vietnamese gardens, we have already sold the goods to China.
Interested Vietnamese friends can contact us after the meeting to promote this innovative sales model together,” said Bob Wang.
