In Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Van Long, director of the Department of Animal Health, expressed that for many years, companies have been accompanying, cooperating, supporting and coordinating the Department of Animal Health as well as the Department of Animal Health units in the advancement of veterinary medicine declaration of many important veterinary tasks, including the task of controlling and ensuring food safety in animal husbandry.

At the same time, the Ministry of Animal Health reported to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to issue 4 documents to the central provinces to direct the organization to control and prevent the illegal import of animals and animal products, including buffalo, cow.

In addition, the Department of Animal Health has organized to control and guide the places, especially those at risk of buffalo and cows being illegally transported across the border or imported from the border into Vietnam when importing buffalo and cows.

Based on this, the Ministry of Animal Health has in the past instructed units to coordinate with local agencies and companies to organize sampling of buffalo and cows imported into Vietnam from abroad to detect the presence of banned substances in food check.

“However, in a short time, with limited resources, we cannot yet guarantee the requirements to control the state of use of banned substances in animal production at national level. Therefore, CP Livestock Joint Stock Company is a partner that has supported the veterinary industry over the years with experience and strong resources. Vietnam has supported 5,000 salbutamol rapid test kits,” shared Mr. Nguyen Van Long.

Accordingly, the Department of Animal Health will shortly allocate 5,000 salbutamol test kits to department units and key high-risk locations to organize the implementation and monitoring of the use of banned substances in livestock from now until the Lunar New Year.

At the same time, it also demonstrates the role of collaboration and camaraderie between business, government and the public,” said the director of the Department of Animal Health.

In particular, Mr. Nguyen Van Long also said that with the support of businesses and the positive, prompt and effective response of the Ministry of Animal Health, Vietnam will demonstrate its responsibility to the international community in this regard. This will protect the health of consumers and strengthen the role, position and reputation of the veterinary industry in Vietnam.

“Hopefully, 5,000 test kits will help support the Department of Animal Health in effectively controlling food safety, particularly the issue of residues of the banned substance salbutamol in livestock. This will protect the health of local farmers and protect the sustainable development of livestock farming,” said Mr. Vu Anh Tuan.
